Amazing Cakes — Restaurant in Washington

Over the years, this tiny little cubbyhole has been through a lot of different metamorphoses. It's so small that you'd want to know your co-workers really well and Ideas for small pocket businesses have come and gone. Perhaps Amazing Cakes is that Amazing Idea. The interior is bright and clean and the shop keeper was friendly and fun. The woman I talked to obviously has deep roots in the community made me feel at home and welcomed. She made sure I got a cupcake card, so I could claim a free cupcake after six paid and I tucked it away right next to my favorite coffee card, plus I got an extra punch.

I would love to see a little more variety. What was there looked good, but a bit limited. Spread those confectionary wings and take us to the moon. Now to be fair, I don't eat cupcakes, so most of my initial impressions are going to be on the decor and the staff, but I bundle my little purchase up and rush it home to the wife, who is the arbiter of sweetness, and a harsh judge she can be. Then I delivered my little parcels of chocolate and waited in apprehension for the decision.

She took a bite and said, Good. Then she she took another little nibble and said, Yeah it's good. Then a few moments later she got this look on her face and said, Actually... It's very good and took another bigger messier bite that included quite a bit of icing.

I let out my breathe. Score! If I can make the wife happy, then I am happy. I bask in the reflected glory of...

Oh my goodness! I cannot say enough good things about these ladies! We came down to Vancouver to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday...and I had to arrange his party last minute because he was supposed to be back on duty at work. I emailed a cake I saw online that I thought would be perfect and asked if they could re-create it. They did an excellent job! I should clarify that "last minute" for me was I contacted them first on 12/16 and they were able to do it in time for me to pick up on 12/30. That may be nearly 2 weeks but with all the holidays...I was thrilled they could do it in that time. We had a red-velvet cake with cream cheese frosting along with themed cupcakes that were chocolate with mocha frosting. Oh my gosh they were DELICIOUS! Everyone loved them and they were so tempting, everyone tried a piece of each. Very rich, but worth every penny- and the price was excellent for quality and taste! We will definitely use them for future cake...

I called a head a week in advance to talk to them about baking cakes and cupcakes for an event. They told me the flavors would be ready at their main address 10:00am Saturday morning. I had my mother drive an hour to come and try cakes with me. When I arrived they didn't have any of the cakes ready. Instead one of the ladies cooking told us we need to call a head to make an appointment for them. That their mall location may have some of the flavors we requested. Her other associated told her we did call ahead, but that she hadn't bothered to write it down. The shop was cramped and disorganized. I could watch the woman baking not wearing gloves or a hairnet. I will not be returning to this store. My time and business were not valued. The standard for hygiene was not something I have see in a professional food...
