Jake's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Vancouver

Must Read! I'm not a local, not a regular.... I was in search of a place that serves good drinks, good food and wanted to do some pull tabs/ gambling. After doing the internet "search" of the closest place to me...(3)... I walked into 2 of the "nearest to me" places and immediately walked out. I went with the THIRD furthest place; and walked into AWESOME. Sitting in the pull tab area, found an open seat amongst the busy bar. Total pub/grill. Smelled great and decent pull tab selection. Immediately was greeted and told "be back in a shake" by Ashley. It was a quick shake lol. She poured a great cocktail and helped me right away. Was then helped by Angela and Bri. I know names because I ASKED. I know how one bad review can ruin people or places, but this evening's visit deserved the time to write this. All 3 ladies were attentive, fun and have a fire under their behinds. 😉 I ordered a burger to go w potato salad. I stayed longer than expected (because I was loving my stay) and by the time I got back to my hotel, *totally my bad for staying longer lol) burger was cold... BUT-STILL SO DELICIOUS!!!!!!! The house was busy, and that is a good sign. Not sure if it was due to good food, or nice happy hour deals. I was not there for food. I only come here a couple times per year. When I ordered my beverages, I asked for water as well. I was directed to a small table across the room with glasses of pre-poured water. As a bouncer, I protected beverages for female guests as we all know that you do not leave a glass unattended. There are some bad people out there that have caused women to be VERY careful. So for a woman to not understand my concerns was appalling. As I travel to other bars, I interact with other bouncers and they know I am with them if needed. I also treat servers with that same respect. So when I see issues like this, I cannot remain silent. I did end up getting water from another server. She seemed to be put out by my request. These attitudes are the basis for my two star rating. The club sandwich looked tasty and I may try it on my next visit. I hope in the meantime that Jake's addresses what may be a health code violation as well as customer service issues. They have a good layout and a great patio. The pool tables...

Great neighborhood pub. Good food and drinks. $$ - This 4 star review was from 6 years ago. UPDATE 3/8/24 - Service still great. Love the atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks. Still a nice neighborhood pub. BUT, not a good night for the deep fryer!! My wife had her usual Philly Cheese steak sandwich which was awesome, as usual. I wasn't feeling the $16 for my usual Chef Salad so I opted for the fish and chips. Big mistake. One piece was way overcooked and the other two pieces were literally dripping with the oil from the deep fryer. My daughters chicken strips were way over-done to the point they were too chewy to eat. The dinner salads and drinks were great so I'm hoping it was just an off night in the kitchen but I probably won't be ordering anything deep fryed from here again.
