Mary Ann's — Restaurant in Vandalia

Its Friday night in downtown St. Elmo. Google says that this small restaurant closed at 7 pm. Wrong. Friday and Saturday the quaint American fare restaurant is open until 8 pm.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, chose from their smoked meat dinnee menu on a Friday night.Offeing smoked BBQ brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, with sides of green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potato fries, dinner salads, it was a good meal. In fact, I thought the brisket and baked beans were EXCELLENT.

Glad I found this restaurant, and didn't settle for typical highway chain restaurant...

We went to McDonald’s close to this restaurant, we picked up our son some hotcakes then we left to find a place for hubby and I to eat. Went to May Ann’s. We took our sons hotcakes in with us and the waitress wasn’t happy we took outside food in. She told us and it was dropped; she then proceeds to bring it back up again and was very rude; we explained we’re traveling back home and we were coming from Reno NV to Ohio, The woman started telling us how rude we were and so we left. The reviews are correct! This is a homey, small-town diner with great food. Most of the patrons are locals, but the staff are very friendly to travelers as well. The chairs are nicely padded, which we really appreciated. The bathrooms are clean. Most importantly, the food is cooked perfectly and served hot. The prices are great as well. Breakfast is served all day. Be sure to ask about the daily special. It was chicken when we were there, and the meals coming out of the kitchen...
