Murray's Steakhouse — Restaurant in Vandalia

We arrived and were seated by 6:35 and told she was going to get kids menus and she'd be right back. 20 Mins went by before a different server took our table. We ordered our entire meal including an appetizer at that time. At the 30 min mark we finally got drinks, and at 40 mins got our over cooked cheese sticks. In between those the rolls made it out. By then our two little kids were irate and annoying other patrons. Sorry for that but they were hungry and tired. We ordered ranch with them and had to re-ask. At 2 mins to the hour mark we finally got our food. But my side salad was missing, had to ask. We didn't receive any of our sauces we already ordered, had to ask. At this point my kids ate a few bites and were so tired we ended up taking the rest of our food to go. My drink was empty. The only time anyone came to the table was to bring us something that was finished cooking. Now the table side manner was polite and friendly, she was a nice girl. And the place was far from busy. We are driving Ling distance and drove 6 miles off the highway based on these reviews. I have never ever seen my husband not eat his order of Chicken Fried steak! He said it tasted freezer burned, defrosted in microwave. He didn't eat his gree beans. When we told waitress how bad it was, she just said "oh you weren't in mood for that today!! Our ceasar salads were soggy like they were pre made, covered with roo much dressing, soggy so probably sitting there waiting for someone to choke them down. I ordered sirloin tips and there were tiny pieces of onion/mushroom on them. My Mac n cheese soggy tasted like it had been frozen and reheated. Murray's Restaurant is an amazing edition to Vandalia! The variety of meals, from mouth-watering steak, chicken, burgers, coconut shrimp to appetizers, fresh salads, and delicious desserts. The unique sweet ROLLS that come with the meal are irresistible and a favorite by EVERYONE! It's great that the atmosphere is so welcoming and updated, with lots of seating options, including private booths, tables, and a party room. Experienced bartenders and a good selection of cocktails are a bonus. The high top tables seem a little more casual. My steak was tender, flavorful, and was cooked to perfection!
