One of the WORST experiences of my life. I got a Google+ account just to write this review. So I called asking if they do takeout and they said they wouldn't start doing that for another hour (which is fine) so I called back in an hour and the owner took my order. I had a double take deal (like a groupon) for the place which was a $30 gift card and I told her that on the phone. I had read the rules on the gift card over and over and the owner said that I wasn't allowed to use the double take deal gift card on take out orders and I asked her where it said that (because it didn't) and she said they just don't do that. I told her that is fine and I would be calling the double take deal company to refund me my money and she said I didn't have to do that and she would honor the coupon this time. I gave her the coupon number, TWICE. She then proceeded to tell me that she would call me in coupon and make sure it was valid. She called me back 30 minutes later (like she said she would) and said that the coupon was not working, at this point I was a little frustrated and was ready to give up and decide that the coupon was not worth it. I finally asked her to repeat to me what coupon number she had written down and it just happened to be the WRONG number! When she called in the correct number it worked fine and she said our food would be ready in 30 minutes. So I get to the restaurant and I have the coupon on my phone and she tells me that she DOES NOT ACCEPT the coupons on the phone! Welcome to the 21st century lady, people use their phones for EVERYTHING. So I ended up having to pay for the entire dinner and print the coupon off the next day and bring it back for a refund. When I got there to get my refund, nobody there would give it to me (even though one of the waiters I had spoken to the night before to make sure he knew what the situation was was there) so I had to wait 15 minutes for a manager to come. Finally everything worked out after quite this struggle.
As for the food, it was mediocre, the yum yum sauce was very salty. The scallops were good but small, same with the shrimp. Everything was cold which was expected because I'm sure I'm not their favorite customer.
If you want hibachi, I suggest paying $5 more and going to a nicer place. The decor in this place was kind of sketchy and...
Read moreShogun is the absolute best Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse. Kumo can't even hold a candle to them (Kumo is actually pretty disgusting compared to Shogun-IMHO). Shogun has been around for over 30 years for a reason, and that reason is because their food is amazing, from the Miso Soup to the dipping sauces for seafood and steak (Kumo tries to replicate it but they fall far short of the mark)! The price is on the higher end of the scale but it's worth every penny for the quality, flavor and quantity that you receive. We always have leftovers, that we look forward to reheating later, and it is definitely one of their selling points! I would absolutely, without a doubt and without reservations, recommend that everyone try Shogun Japanese Steakhouse (Especially if you like Kumo, just so you can see what it's actually supposed to taste like and find out what you have been missing out on)! Just a word of advice from someone who has been going to Shogun since they opened: after you finish your soup and salad, while your chef is preparing your food, do not dig into your meal until everything is on your plate. Enjoy the show. Otherwise, you will have eaten all of your meat while your veggies and rice are still cooking and you'll feel a bit like, "Hey, where'd all my meat go!?" Don't worry, it won't get cold while you wait and enjoy the show and the corny jokes! Also, a little tip, request extra seafood sauce (the orange one) be added onto the top of your rice after they've put it in the bowl, then stir it in. It makes all the difference in the world, you won't be disappointed, and again, don't worry, they put it in it already while it's cooking so you won't be adding some unknown sauce to your rice, it just makes it so it's not dry and enhances the...
Read morePaid $100 for 3 small dinners no alcohol... we got an old white American Hibachi chef that seemed like it was his first week. He could barely cook one thing at a time and absolutely massacred the fried rice. He let the bottom completely burn then tried to hurry up and mix it together when he noticed. It was mushy AF with lovely pieces of burnt rice throughout that were hard as a rock. Not that it mattered I didnt eat it but the rice portion was tiny compared to other hibachi places. There was a to-go box at our table of 5 and that box had its steak cooked before 2 people in our group had theirs even started (as they waited with burnt rice for some meat.) Then the entire staff seemed eager to leave at 8pm when they close at 8:30 (we arrived at 7pm) they were literally sweeping under our feet and trying to take away the last two peoples plates while they still had several steak bites on it and were actively eating. Worst Hibachi experience of my life!!!! I understand it's only half a table and towards...
