Sapore Restaurant — Restaurant in Ventnor City

I had never ordered from Sappore before, but I was craving a Philly cheesesteak and found them through DoorDash’s “Happy Hour” section. First of all, bravo to them for offering an affordable menu during select times—2pm-5pm ,something rare these days! I was initially drawn to their LG plain pizza, which was priced reasonably at $11-12 (not $28 like many places!).

While the Philly cheesesteak wasn’t part of the Happy Hour deal, I was so impressed by the rest of their menu that I decided to give it a try, along with an order of cheese fries. Let me tell you, this is the spot I’ve been searching for in Atlantic County. I was nearly in tears because everything was just that good.

The Philly cheesesteak? Glorious. It’s massive—basically like two full cheesesteaks in one—and the flavors are incredible. It’s fresh, perfectly seasoned, and easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve had since Gino’s. No exaggeration.

The pizza? Beautiful. It was perfectly made, fresh, and delicious. Even the cheese fries were warm, fresh, and made with care.

What truly impressed me were the little details—Sappore sent paper plates, ketchup, and utensils with my order. I can’t remember the last time a place went above and beyond like that. They genuinely care about their food and customers, and it shows.

I don’t eat out often, but when I do, I expect food to be worth the money and far from mediocre. Sappore delivered in every way. 5 stars all the way! I can’t wait to order from them again. Keep up the...

SAPORE restaurant is directly on the corner of Ventnor & Newport Avenues in Ventnor City. It has both indoor & outdoor dining, excellent food, a friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. If you have a special someone in your life, treat them to a 'Date Night', & enjoy some classically famous dishes. I have included photos of several different portions of the restaurant, both inside and outside. It has a tasteful decor, pleasant music, ( without being loud or overbearing) and plenty of seating options, depending on your party size. I have also included photos of the full dinner menu, so anyone can see what might appeal to them. The food is excellent; I got a classic Philadelphia Sausage, Pepper, & Onion sandwich on a hoagie roll- Hot and Perfect!! They have 2 coolers with a wide selection of bottled drinks, as well as fountain sodas, etc. The outdoor tables have a nice ambiance at night, with small lights strung above the tables. With every restaurant struggling right now, trying to recover from the Pandemic, try to tip well; a few extra dollars can mean the whole world to a hard-working waiter or waitress. Perfect old-fashioned pizza–the way I remember it and haven't been able to find anywhere–until now! Friendly service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious everything!!

It's 3 years later since I gave Sapore a glowing review. I'm sorry to report that the meal there two nights ago on Nov 25 was very disappointing. What made it particularly unpleasant was the wait person for our table. This is not the first time she's been assigned to our table. She was never very friendly. But this last time, she was simply miserable. Every request seemed like a chore for her. Her assistant was just as distant. They are hardly representative of the normally friendly wait staff. The pizza was completely undercooked and a gooey mess, although it was ordered well done, thin and crispy. After we had her take it to the kitchen to re-bake it, the end result was only slightly improved. The Calamari Fritti was undercooked, soggy and tasteless–also ordered crispy and crunchy. The Mussels Marinara were briny and they did not taste fresh. The only good plate was the Side of Meatballs and Ricotta Cheese. All of this would have seemed better had our wait person been friendly and engaging. She was sour, distant and unmoved over our food not being anywhere...
