Overall, I would recommend this place. They have fair prices and good food for the most part.
I had eaten here a while ago, but I honestly forgot what I thought about it, so I decided to try it again! I got a chimichanga this time. It smelled fantastic and the fried tortilla was so crunchy to perfection. The seasoning was exactly what you want, not bland like a lot of other places. The chimichanga is HUGE, and while I feel like the most people would enjoy the amount of meat they put on it, for me, the ratio of rice and beans was so small compared to the meat. That being said, my only real complaint was that, while my chimichanga had a TON of meat, quite a bit of it was very fatty and chewy. I really don't like when meat is that fatty and full of tendons, while being mixed into something like a burrito or chimichanga because I cannot trust every bite or pick it out, which completely ruins the enjoyment for me. The meat that wasn't fatty was actually very delicious, juicy and well...
Read moreWe stopped for a quick bite on the way home from Solvang. There weren't many customers when we stopped so I was a little apprehensive. But it wasn't bad. I had the 3 taco plate. Really thought they'd be tastier, but they were kinda bland. Shredded beef should have been shredded. It was in big hunks and was hard to chew. Friend had a relleno and a tamale. The relleno was good, not great. I would describe that to be bland as well. The tamale was pretty darned good, tho. Most are more masa with a little meat. These were lots of meat with a thin layer of masa. Smothered in red chile, too.
Since we were gonna be back on the road, we needed the restroom. At first glance it looked clean enough. Prolly should do some checks during the day. The smell of urine hits you right in the face after the door closes.
Everyone was polite and friendly, though. And it did get pretty crowded after we started eating. Not a horrible place, but could def use...
Read moreThis place has really good shrimp tostada. I have never been anywhere else where they put chamoy and crema on a shrimp tostada . The combination is creative and delicious. My husband introduced me to Lalos about a year ago (delish ). Everytime I'm in Ventura we now always stop there........ Updat: So what I thought was chamoy is actually ketchup and the crema is actually mayo . I went there recently and my experience was not that great . If they would prepare tostadas with the ingredients I thought they did , it would probably taste better. This time the tostada was not great at all . The staff was rude and it was too hot to eat outdoors so we ate inside . The dining area felt stuffy and kind of dirty ( one too many flies) my daughter ordered the chile verde burrito and she did not like it at all her words "gross" . Will not be going...
