Birdie's Cafe — Restaurant in Vernon Township

I went here once with my husband. I ordered a western omelet, which came out great. However, my husband ordered a mac and cheese cheese steak. The steak was extremely dry and the mac and cheese was not good at all. The cheese on top was also plastered like plastic. We were also very surprised at how expensive everything was when it was time to pay. Despite the first experience, we tried it a second time. I ordered a burrito and it was extremely dry. I could really only taste the lettuce and tomato, becuase there was so much of it. There was very little chicken, almost no rice or beans at all, and it was not good. They also listed a different price for the burrito on their menu than what we were charged when we ordered online. We did not add anything extra to it. Normally we love this place as locals but today not so much. Went for mother's day breakfast with two grandmas a very pregnant person and a toddler. Showed up, waited our turn in line, there was a table open that would have fit us. Then, we were told we didn't make a reservation so we couldn't be seated. I explained I looked online and on Facebook and it said no reservations would be accepted and we even called the night before to try to make one and were told no. We were then forced to wait with a very pregnant person, staring at an empty large table while the party that did show up with their "reservation" casually strolled in ten mins later and a line building out the door. The people with the reservation were so rude as they overheard us asking staff what was going on... Definitely not the experience we wanted to give our mom's, grandma and pregnant mom friend on mother's day morning. We left and...

I really love this place. The staff are very friendly. If you like coffee you're in for a treat! Coffee milkshake lets go! The Penne with Vodka was the best I've had ever. Fresh herbs and garlic. The menu is Huge! I did have a bad experience ordering a salad. The mushrooms were about as far gone as I could stand if I were making them for myself. I hate wasting food. The salad itself seemed a bit uninspired. So perhaps stay away from the entre salads. Recently however I had a prime rib and penne special and the included house salid was simple and awsome with deep colors. I loved this place from my first visit. However for some reason my wife didn't. She couldn't give me a reason. I told her to try adding salt because they didn't add salt to my onion rings for me. Which is the way I like it.
