I went to this restaurant straight after work with my parents today. We found this place because of the show Restaurant Hunter NJ. The first thing I was beyond happy about was They Had Vegetarian choices!!! (Yes I am a vegetarian) I ordered one kale plantain & white cheese empanada and one spinach & feta cheese empanada. They were phenomenal! It is 1/4 of a pound or more. They STUFF those empanada with holy goodness. We were offered to try a pudding bread which I have never heard of that and it was great. I am not a fan of moist breads but it taste great and it wasnโt overly sweet. My mother ended up getting one to go. I am so happy that I can now have empanadas again. The staff was so happy and great. He seemed to really love his job and care about his customers. Unfortunately I was not able to get his name because I forgot to ask.

ย ย ย Read moreI had a nice, flavorful sit down meal for the price of an upscale burger chain meal. The have assorted savory and sweet empanadas, sandwiched, wraps and a small and large plate hot meal. The hot meal is your choice of entree, there was pulled pork and chicken with onions and peppers the night I was there, and a choice of two sides. I selected vegetables and Spanish rice and red beans. In addition I had a beef and potato empanada. Even though I selected the small plate I had to take some home as I couldn't finish everything.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The Empanada Lady Cafe is just off the main road, Bloomfield Ave., on Grove Ave. in a small strip mall with a Kaiser's.
Since it was my first visit the only thing I wasn't sure of is how to order. There are small cards with check boxes but they don't have the hot plates on them. I ordered at the counter but there may have been menus...
