Normally, for a cut I'd see a men's barber but they don't typically offer color services and, unfortunately, I had some temple grays peeking through. I like to think I'm still youthful so I'm not quite at the point where I could confidently pull off the salt-and-pepper Zaddy aesthetic. I spent some time researching local salons that could accommodate me and my needs and decided on "The Mane Place II" - I'm very happy that I did! Setting up an appointment was a simple phone call to the establishment - a bit novel in the age of booking apps but, to be honest, it was nice to speak to an actual person who could help with getting me an appointment. Note: I had to reschedule my appointment due to an unforeseen conflict on my part and they graciously found another date that would work since I called a few days prior to me initially scheduled date. I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early as I usually do and was welcomed warmly by the front desk attendant (her name escapes me at the moment, but she was super friendly.) After taking my jacket and hat, I was led to a chair to wait for my turn. I was also offered coffee or water if I was so inclined. After a few minutes amusing myself scrolling through snarky Reddit memes of my phone to pass the time, I was greeted by Lisa, my colorist/stylist. She had a very friendly demeanor and, after exchanging pleasantries, we got down to business. She asked what method of coloring I wanted - permanent or the brush through dye and the actual hue of the color I wanted itself. We chatted for a bit and I chose the permanent option and she brought out a selection of colored hair swatches to verify my choice of color. I need to mention here that I don't usually get my hair colored so Lisa was very patient with explaining the process and what to expect, filling in knowledge gaps so I had a good grasp on what the experience would be like. After excusing herself to begin mixing the hair color solution, the front desk attendant, dressed me in a smock. Lisa popped back over and applied the color. Once finished, I was put in a cap and sat under a dryer for 20 mins or so (not 100% sure how long) as the color developed under the heat. When my time was up, I was then seated to have the solution washed out in a shampoo and then condition. After a quick towel dry, I was very happy with the color job. It was exactly the color I had envisioned getting! Next on the agenda was my cut! Knowing I would have a hard time describing what I wanted, I had several pictures of different cuts and styles I thought would work for my features and hair type. Full disclosure, I have very fine hair and a five-head so my bar is basically finding a cut that doesn't make me look like Pennywise from 2017's "It." I mentioned to Lisa if the pic styles weren't going to work, then I'd defer to her professional expertise. However, she was fine with the style I had chosen. She executed it flawlessly. She did a wonderful job - I cannot be happier with it! My cut and color from Lisa at "The Mane Place II" was chefs' kiss magnifique! I highly recommend to...
Read moreFirst of all this was a "fix it" visit. I went to another salon that totally messed up my hair, I tried to fix it myself and made it worse.. and The Main Place II (Jenna specifically) was recommended to me. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
My hair was orange and blonde and brown and unevenly cut, It was a mess. Jenna brought out the hair swatch book, we did a mini consultation and she walked through her ideas to fix the tones and adjust so everything would look more natural and so that I would end up getting the result I was looking for. I was a bit nervous about going too dark so we went a bit lighter and it wasn't dark enough so we went with her original choice and it was of course the correct choice. But to understand as the client that I was scared and traumatized from all of these other experiences, she was totally on board with letting me be comfortable with the slightly lighter shade first (even though she knew she was likely right!)
We then noticed my hair was unevenly cut.. so she fixed that as well even though it wasn't part of the original plan.
Just look at the pictures..Jenna did absolutely phenomenal job. My hair is stunning. I went from wairing hats all the time covering up my embarrasing hair to fully flaunting it! I am so thankful for Jenna and this salon. I 100% recommend them to everyone out there. Book now before the...
Read moreJust moved into Verona and was looking for a hair salon. Decided to give Mane Place a try and let me just say I was impressed how they run the salon. Very professional. The staff is friendly and nice. Jenna did my hair and I am just in love with how my hair came out. Had told her that I like curls but my hair is so thin and sleek that I’ve tried different salons before and no one can seem to make my hair last but boi does Jenna knows what she’s doing. I’m about to go to bed right now and my hair is still holding the curls. Thank you Jenna. I truly...
