UPDATE 3/4/23: Have eaten here several more times and continue to be impressed. The new item I am addicted to is the “ make your own bowl”. Wow, most of the time I have to bring one half of it home! Pick your meats and fillings for the bowl! Unlimited possibilities! I loved the atmosphere of the new decor and attentiveness of the staff. We were a party of 4 and did the "call ahead" option on a busy Friday night. They do not take reservations here, but call ahead about an hour before arrival and you get priority. We are glad we did as there was a huge line, which attests to their quality and service. We started with fried pickles which were hand made. Delicious and the breading was homemade and out of this world. The crunch if the coating was spot on, the cajun dip was not too spicy and complimented the fried pickles. They smoke their meats on site for the BBQ items. Having just come back from Texas and eating at the top 3 BBQ joints in Texas, I just had to test my BBQ skills so I tried the AUSTIN BBQ dinner on the menu. The Austin is a plate with all three meats, pulled pork, brisket and ribs! In Texas, you rate a joint by how good their brisket is and North/South Was BETTER than the Texas brisket I had. Moist and tender, the brisket fell apart picking it up. Two people at my table got the brisket sandwich and same comments. Best brisket ever. My dish was served with two sides and choise the thick cut fries (great choice) and broccoli which was steamed to perfection on a busy night. Next, my pulled pork was also tender and moist, but lacked any flavor for some reason. That was ok as the four BBQ sauces at your table could help with that! The disappointment of the night were the ribs. They were very dry and thin. Not a lot of meat and encrusted with a lot of spices. I did not end up eating my ribs but took them home. This was the biggest and ONLY disappointment of the night. Our fourth party had the pork tacos with jalapeno corn in them and they were gone. Some of the best pork tacos he said he has ever had. The staff was very attentive to filling water glasses and coming by to make sure the food was fine. I did get a key lime pie to take home, but with the strong winds outside the container opened up and it fell out😥😥. I saw stacks and stacks of crab legs coming out to tables, which I will try next time. Bathrooms were very clean and modern, the bar area was packed. I would of rated 4.5 stars for the bad ribs, but rest of meal made up for it. Waiting area is very small though, which I find will be a problem for how packed this place will be due to the outstanding service and food.

I stopped in here with the family on a Thursday around 2pm as we traveled through the area. There were a lot of choices, but the reviews had me intrigued, so we chose this spot. I like the fact that they were a smokehouse AND seafood restaurant. I've never seen this combo before and we love both. I admit I was a little skeptical when I walked in and didn't smell that signature smokehouse smell. I would be shocked if the smoke their meat onsite, as I've never been to a smokehouse with an onsite smoker but doesn't smell like smokey meat. We started with the cheese curds and the pulled pork nachos, as they are two of our favorite appetizers. The curds were on point, lightly battered, salty, and fresh. The nachos were good, but the pulled pork was what I would call wet. They must have been either cooked in their own juices or a liquid was added. The flavor was good, but not what I would expect from a smokehouse. I could barely pick up a hint of smoked flavor, which was so faint it was hard to tell if it was from smoke or smokey seasoning. The chips were light and crispy. Again good, but not able to hold up to the toppings on pulled pork nachos. Any the sat with toppings on them for more than a few minutes cracked under the weight. I will say the their Chipotle sour cream was great, and I'm not a sour cream guy. I typically skip that altogether. The house made cheddar sauce was another high point. The shrimp and the cheesy shredded potatoes followed suit. Not fantastic, but good. The kids fish was also good, with a light and crunchy breading, but there was only one piece and left my 7 year old daughter still wanting more. I ordered the BBQ big bowl on the lunch menu. I ordered it with brisket, cheesy potatoes, beans, Pico, vinegar slaw, and shredded cheddar. The bowl was really good... except the brisket. What a let down it was to find something more akin to pot roast in my bowl. Now I'm not claiming it WAS pot roast. I do believe it was brisket, but it did not taste at all like smoked brisket. The smoke ring was non existent, as was the smoked flavor. The meat itself was overly tender, again more like slow cooker pot roast, and lacked flavor overall. I gave 3 stars, which means the place was decent, but it did not hit the mark for a smokehouse in my experience. The sides were good, the seafood was fine, but when the smoke is left out of the meat at a smokehouse, I just can't give the 4 stars this place would've deserved otherwise.

I just flew a long haul from Hong Kong to Chicago and then drove three hours to Verona. I love BBQ and have been trying different barbecue restaurants wherever I travel in the US. I found this place right across from the hotel. Man, it's freezing today-17°C! Two of us were welcomed by a group of staff who arranged for us to have a seat. Our server, Jacob, was super friendly and nice. We ordered half a country roasted chicken, and I was worried that the chicken would be too dry, but Jacob assured me it wouldn't be. I then ordered the combo of brisket and coconut shrimp. I was thrilled to see a great selection of IPAs and beers available. I ordered the Founders All Day IPA and then asked for another glass with a fruity taste. Unfortunately, I could not remember the name. I loved the 2nd one which was recommended by the bartender. The Caesar salad was served in a big bowl for an additional $3. It was fresh and simply delicious. The chicken was roasted perfectly with crispy skin. When I cut into the breast, I saw that the meat was moist and just right—not overcooked, tender, and juicy. Well done! The brisket, honestly, was a bit too dry and chewy, though the part near the fat was good. I expected it to be more tender with more marbling in the meat. I dipped it in different sauces and loved the spicy one. The coconut shrimp were perfect—crispy and sweet from the coconut slices. The sauce added a sour note that provided an excellent balance to the dish. The two sides, coleslaw and beans, were great. Overall, it was a really good dining experience and my first meal in Verona.

Ate here for the first time over the weekend. Good luck finding better food anwhere else! And the best part is that it was all top tier. Even at high quality places, usually 1 thing is just okay. Not here. I remember thinking that the fries where the "worst" part of the dish but they would be one of the best parts the the dish anywhere else! That's how good everything was.

Started off with an old fashioned and it was absolutely one of the better ones I've had made. My wife got a mocktail and it was very flavorful!

For appetizers, we started with burnt tips and catfish. Just wow to both of these things! The flavor of the burnt tips was incredible! I have never had catfish before and this was an amazing way to try something for the first time! They had their own secret sauce top dip the catfish bites into. While I used the sauce, I also ate a couple without any sauce because it was just that good plain. The sauce really just made it even better.

You go to the main course and it's just perfection on a plate. I got the Nashville. Brisket and spare ribs. Everything was cooked perfectly. The spare ribs came off the bone with no hassle and were packed with flavor. The brisket had an amazing char on it and was qually packed with flavor. This is also where the fries came into play as one of my sides. You get two sides with this. My second side was cheesey hashbrowns. Again, if I had to pick a "weak" spot, it would be the sides. However, it's becasue everything else is just so good. Those sides would be stars at most resturants. The wife got some sliders. I didn't have any but I could see the approval.

To finish it off, key lime pie. Key lime pie is already amazing and, as expected, the place that makes everything delicious also make a delicious key lime pie!

If you haven't been here, you need to make it a priority. I've know about this place for about a year and I'm kicking myself for not coming in sooner. To top it off, check to see if Kathy (Cathy? I never verified the spelling) is working. She is peak waitressing. If you are sitting in her section, not only will you get an amazing meal, but you'll be served by an amazing person who does a...
