Greek Bros. Oyster Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Victoria

I don't write bad reviews. Usually I have a not so great experience and move on. However, my girl and I came here on day trip for business from SA and decided to check it out. We ordered fried mushrooms which had no seasoning and the ranch dip was Hidden Valley.

Our salad was completely unappealing, unwashed, and unsatisfactory. Tasted like grass. For both of our salads we had...no kidding, one crouton. Just one. Her crouton was bigger which didn't help my pride. I wish I took a picture, but we were both in so much disbelief it didn't occur to me. It just felt unreal.

Then, we got our Ribeye to share. I've eaten plenty of Ribeye from many steak houses and this was the absolute worst. Ordered medium rare, got medium. Had no flavor. No crisp to the edges. The sides were veggies and mashed potatoes. The mash was store bought instant brand even though our server assured us they were "fresh potatoes".

After we took one bite of each thing, we realized it was our time to go. The server was the best part of the experience. We brought it to her attention and she apologized and mentioned that she's never heard the concerns we had with their food. My girl's family owns and runs multiple restaurants and I frequent many places for steak. This wasn't good.

We requested to pay for our beers and the fried mushrooms since we ate them all. She complied, told us she'd talk to the owner, and came back with a check reflecting our request. The owner didn't do much but lift his shades and give me a very bad look. This guy has an ego so big he placed a picture of himself above the bar. In decked out Hawaiian shirt, shorts, sunglasses and a hat. He was an interesting character to look at, but wasn't much help. When we entered the restaurant he approached us out of the blue and put up two fingers and just said "two?" and directed us over to a table. As we walked out he approached another patron and turn his back to us.

It was weird dude. Side note: for whatever reason there's a back door that leads outside where all of our food was coming from. Additionally, our draft beers had to be poured from another bar next door. Our server literally walked through the front door with our beers. That should have been the sign, but we gave it the benefit of the doubt and here's what we thought.

I think there's plenty of regulars that love the place and that's fine, but if you've never been here, just go somewhere...

I am a fan of Greek Brothers in El Campo so when I heard that there was one in Victoria I was super excited. I went there on a date expecting the same quality of food I experience at the other location. I was highly disappointed. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and it had to be one of the most disappointing steaks I have had in my life. The edges were cooked more to a black and blue and the rest of the steak was more along the lines of a medium cook. The asparagus was so salty I couldn’t even eat it, the onions had so much seasoning salt on them they were an odd color of orange and salty to boot. My date ordered hamburger steak and again having had it at the other location I said it was delicious. Boy I was wrong, it was as thick as a meatloaf, bland and the gravy was out of the jar quality. After I asked the waiter how long they have been in Victoria I was told they had been there for a couple years but were still operating mostly out of a food truck to cook most of the items. I was here for an event. The food was great, the service was great until a bit later into the event.

The place is swanky and has a good vibe until later in the evening. Then the backroom turns into a night club. So you have this odd dichotomy of swanky bar, chill outdoor patio, and nightclub. It doesn't work and drives the real money spending clientele away IMHO.

Our event went well until one of the managers went home and then the remaining manager flip-flopped on his word and ruined the remainder of our event. We paid good money and this was not our agreement. Customer service is lacking. We brought up our issues and he basically threw his hands up and essentially told us too bad. They also cleared our catered food that we were not done with.
