Ruby's Roost Bakery & Coffee — Restaurant in Victoria

The food is good. I’ve known that for years. That being said, I cannot believe that, as owners and operators of this place, the staff choose not to wear face coverings or masks at Ruby’s Roost. Given 1) the uptick nationwide in cases, 2) the proven effectiveness of facial coverings in preventing spread of Covid-19, and 3) the fact that as operators of a bakery/coffee shop, they interact with hundreds of community members each and every day, of whom they could in no way be aware of any existing underlying health conditions or the immunocompromised status some customers may have, I cannot fathom the choice as business operators in the community to not take such a simple and easy protective measure for the safety and benefit of their customers and the community at large. Either A) they think it would be too burdensome to do so, B) they feel they are somehow making a political statement by choosing to disregard science and public health expertise, C) they truly don’t believe the science and public health warnings, or D) they just have little regard for the safety of others in the community. If you are looking for a coffee house, look no further Ruby’s Roost is it! Not only do they have coffee but they also have amazing baked goods, made fresh daily by the owners. The owners are an amazingly warm and welcoming family, literally the whole family plays a role in the shop! They take time to talk to you and genuinely care about their customers!

One item to note they do not offer any gluten free items as far as the bakery goes. But I have tested a few of the specialty coffee drinks and they are gluten free. If you need your beverage to be dairy free they can also accommodate that with coconut milk. Just give them a heads up if you have any questions or concerns they will do what they can to accommodate you.

We travel to this place! We skip the awful coffee shop we have in our tiny town and drive to this one, it’s so worth the drive! And it’s a beautiful drive from the MSP. If you want to get out of the city on the weekend I would recommend heading out early to get some baked goods before...
