We had the Sunday buffet. The fried chicken was "OK", but that was all. The mashed potatoes were glue, like instant always are, and they were cold. I only put butter on mine and it never melted. The smothered squash was a bunch of yellow squash in water. It had a FEW pieces of onion, and VERY FEW TINY piece of ham. It sure wasn't smothered squashed. The stuffing was out of a box, like stove top, and it didn't have enough moisture to hold it together. It was seasoned croutons on your plate. And the meatloaf was, well, awful. Our waitress fixed me an Arnold Palmer, but I only got lemonade. I asked for a refill, she said she'd be right there. I finally went up to the counter and got my own, but she didn't know that. A good 15 minutes later I asked again. Again she said she was busy, she'd be right there. Never did come. Their bathrooms are out of order. What??!!?? Does the Health Department in Louisiana allow you to run a busy 2 dining room restaurant without bathrooms? I had to walk 3 lots over the the Shell station to use their facilities while my food sat and got cold. People with children had no alternative for a potty. The price of this lousy, cheap food was $37.11 for two of us. By comparison, we had excellent fried chicken, delicious smothered squash, glazed carrots, beverage and dessert at the lovely Walnut Hills in Vicksburg, only $28 for 2 for lunch. But lunch at the Cafe was an awful disappointment. Don't recommend and won't...
Read moreI just paid $15 for the worst service ever. Stood at the door for 5 minutes before walking to a table in plain sight of staff..... waited at the table for 15 minutes before telling my daughter to go fix her a plate. Staff said "just a second" 6 minutes and 2 tables ago. Owner comes to the table to see if we need anything, i asked for a server to order drinks. 3 minutes later we order 2 orange juices. 10 minutes go by before the owner brings us juices. 5 more minutes for straws. After my daughter is done eating, server comes by to get the one plate on the table. Another 4 minutes and we walk to the register and wait. 2 orange juices and 1 buffet= $14 and change. They need to be happy im more respectful than the staff. I couldve...
Read moreWhen we make a trip to Louisiana via this route, we always seem to land at the cafe for breakfast and we really enjoy it every time! We really enjoy finding local diners and cafes and this one is on our list of place that we enjoy. The food is good and the service has always been just right. Supporting locally owned businesses has always been very important to us, even more so than ever. The experience and people you meet will never be had in a corporate chain and is always unique to locally owned...
