We weren't very happy with the last experience at Big Boy, Clio MI. It wasn't busy yet but still waited for a server. We ordered a Big Boy burger w/FF sm bowl of bean soup and a chocolate malt. Next order was a deep fry cod fish sandwich with NO tarter sauce. Said it twice to be sure server noted it. No FF Onion rings instead & a Root beer float. Drinks arrive, chocolate malt was perfect no slop over. Root beer float had overflowed a bit and was bought out on a saucer with a full glass of rootbeer to go with it. Few mins. later bean soup a few more mins. then our meal was dropped off. I noticed there were spots of white on the 5 maybe 6 small onion rings on my plate, lifted the top of sandwich and there's a lot of tarter sauce!. Hate the stuff! Our server was taking an order a few tables away. I tried to get his attention but didn't so I tried to take the tarter sauce off the fish and bun. Didn't work. Then as cleaned off as I could get my fish I put the bun aside and tried to eat just the fish, which by the way was over cooked to the point it was very dark in color. Salted and added ketchup to the fish cut it up then took my first bite wasn't good so wiped some tarter sauce off an onion ring took a bite it was ok bc I got most of the tarter off it took another bite of the fish and I was finished with the meal. My stomach started to roll to the point I thought I'd be sick. Still no server until they saw a plate full of my lunch sitting off to the edge of table. When our server got to our table I told them what happened with the sandwich with a lot of tarter sauce which I specifically asked not to put on my fish not once but 2 x's! To add insult to injury I still paid $20.65 for both meals because the cashier was answering a call. I waited until she took the lunch bill from me while still on the phone stated amt. owed no questions asked. Since I was running short of time the bill was paid leaving cashier still...
Read moreUpdating my review. We usually are always breakfast visitors with the family. Great service when we usually come. Tonight was the opposite. Our server was slow which wouldn't have been an issue but so was the restaurant. Seemed off to be like that. I ordered for my kids 2 meals and the other just wanted a side item. I got a Ruben with an upcharge for onion rings. My sandwich came out with fries instead of onion rings so my friend pointed it out and they took it back. It was brought back with burnt onion rings and she said if they are too burnt then they would make new. She left and didn't came back to check. I just ate the sandwich and sat with 3 empty cups. My sons Mac and cheese had chunks of burnt noodles that I had just picked out and placed to the side. No refills, checks on food quality, Nothing. The gentlemen came by, I'm assuming the manager, and asked how everything was. I told him about the onion rings and I asked to have taken off my order. Then they brought my bill ... Charged for my sandwich with fries ... That I never even got ... When she did finally come back I asked for my kids ice cream that they should have gotten with their meals. Very disappointed to say the least. We were not the only customers waiting for service either. Another couple we're watching the kitchen and grabbed the nearest server to get a bill so they could leave. 21.90 for our bill ... What a waste 😒

Read moreMy hubby and I know we will always have a nice experience at our local Big Boy, here in Clio. We immediately noticed the new entrance layout and doors, good job! As usual, the friendly hostess was prompt and led us to a table that was easy to access with my walker. Our server, who we learned was Joe, arrived soon after to take our beverage order. When Joe returned we were ready to give him our lunch choices. Hugh ordered the Classic Big Boy combo and I chose the new Impossible Burger (a plant based Patty), with an exchange from fries to brocolli. A short time passed, then Joe arrived with our lunch. Kudos to the kitchen staff for putting together each of our platters in very appealing presentations. Hugh did not hesitate and dug right in with gusto, enjoying every morsel. I was anxious to try my veggie "burger" to see how it compared to one I had recently enjoyed at another restaurant. Big Boy's selection was AMAZING, so much so that I called Joe over to question if he brought me the correct burger! I was sure mine was beef, it was so good!! Next time I need to remember to order mine without the bun because I don't eat bread since my bariatric surgery eleven months and 100 pounds ago!
