Hi-View Restaurant — Restaurant in Villa Park

Now I'll start by saying I have always liked this place not only for the cream of chicken and rice soup but all the food I've eaten there has been really good. BUT, as of Thursday I'm very disappointed and thinking of not returning. My day off, mouth was watering for soup and waffles excited I walked in alone place wasn't bus,y maybe 5/6 tables were taken. A waitress organizing menus was just standing in front of the register, directly in front of the door I just walked in... made eye contact and kept doing what she was doing, so I gave it a min and she walked away. Another waitress came from the back walked past me with the look on my face saying "I'm still waiting" well she walked past me too.. so I just stood there, been about a min and half almost two minutes now. I made eye contact with a plain clothes girl sitting at the bar stools right by the register I never thought twice about her especially since she looked at me with no reaction. Then some white man pops out of his booth ready to pay walks right to the register and even before he made up there the plain clothes girl jumped right up and said" hi, how was everything and took his bill and started ranging him out!!! So I had been ignored by three employees one who sat and stared at me the entire two minutes as if I didn't exist. I looked at her again and walked out shaking my head, she did nothing to stop me or see what i had been standing there for two minutes staring at them waiting to sit down for. Normally I'm with my aunt or mom who are white, my first time waking in alone being half black and racism turned its ugly head in villa park. I'm very upset and don't plan on coming back or giving my money to a place that treats anybody like that!!! Very...

Editing my first review from a few weeks ago;

Ordered a takeout burger and after a few bites pulled a long woman's hair out from the sandwich. Called the restaurant and explained what happened and the host's response was just "interesting.."

The manager picked up and without apologizing or anything else just asked me how I wanted the burger.. I explained that I didn't want to drive twenty minutes back to the restaurant but for the issue to be rectified over the phone. He tried explaining that that was the only option, and that procedure was for me bring the half eaten meal back to the restaurant for him to expect. "I'm not accusing you of lying but people can do this all the time in order to get a free meal" is what I was told... I asked if he seriously expected me to come back with a chewed up burger and the hair that I found and he said yes and that he would inspect the hair and compare it against the staff working in the kitchen, and for my "inconvenience" of driving back would I then receive a gift certificate.. I told him how ridiculous this expectation was and after more back and forth he eventually said he would leave a store credit for the cost of the sandwich at the front desk.

I work in the service industry and never in my life have I come across this kind of customer service responding to a customer complaint. I don't even know if I'll return for the store credit, would have just rathered a refund.

I just moved to Villa Park and this is the first place I ordered food from. Definitely glad I did, friendly service, staff seemed to know everyone who came and left by first name, great daily specials, huge menu. Only thing is wish the side portions were a bit bigger, one scoop or mashed potatoes...

If you are AFRICAN AMERICAN please do not waste your time coming here, My friend and I had came in for dinner last night with her son and the waitress was very rude! First of all, it took her like 10 minutes till she took our order (there was literally only 2 other tables that were already seated before us and had already received their food) and when I proceeded to have questions about the food they were serving, she proceeded to have an attitude with me an literally started YELLING the menu items at me... keep in mind they had already sectioned us off in the back so the older Caucasian people didn't have to see or here us so there was literally no reason for her to be yelling at me. It took over 20 min for our server to bring out our food and when she did she did not ask us ONE time how our food was. As a matter of fact, she only came back once just to ask us if we wanted refills in our already empty drinks...when I tell you she acted like tending to our table was such a chore (even though we were the only ones there) she didn't even come over to give us our bill, my friend literally had to get up out of her seat to get the bill! There was honestly sooo much more wrong with our night out at this "family" restaurant last night, but I've already written a novel. Just know that I tipped the waitress 2.50 and my friend tipped her $2 and she definitely did not deserve even THAT small of a tip..I just so happen to be a nice person at times. I'm telling you, if you are a person of color please pleaseeeee don't feel bold enough to come in here, you will get treated like the bottoms...
