I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Turk, a Turkish restaurant nestled in Mount Kisco, NY, and it was an experience that left me captivated. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that set the stage for a truly memorable meal.
The Turk's menu showcases an array of authentic Turkish dishes that will transport your taste buds to the vibrant streets of Istanbul. As an avid lover of Mediterranean cuisine, I was thrilled to find a wide variety of options, ranging from flavorful kebabs to mouthwatering mezes.
The appetizers at The Turk are simply delightful. The traditional hummus, creamy and perfectly seasoned, paired wonderfully with warm, freshly baked bread. The stuffed grape leaves, known as dolmas, were expertly prepared, offering a burst of tangy flavors in each bite.
For the main course, I opted for the Adana kebab, a signature Turkish dish made with minced lamb, spices, and herbs. Cooked to perfection and served with fragrant rice and a side of grilled vegetables, it was a true carnivore's delight. The meat was tender, juicy, and bursting with smoky flavors that danced on my palate.
The Turk's dedication to authentic flavors extends to their dessert menu. I indulged in the traditional Turkish baklava, and it was a sweet revelation. Layers of flaky pastry, generously filled with nuts and soaked in a delicate honey syrup, created a heavenly combination of textures and tastes.
What truly sets The Turk apart, aside from its delectable cuisine, is the attentive service and genuine warmth of the staff. The waitstaff was knowledgeable, offering recommendations and ensuring that every need was met with a smile.
The restaurant itself exudes a welcoming atmosphere, with tasteful decor that showcases Turkish culture and heritage. Whether you're seeking an intimate dinner for two or a gathering with friends and family, The Turk provides a cozy setting that adds to the overall dining experience.
In conclusion, The Turk in Mount Kisco, NY, is a hidden gem for those craving authentic Turkish cuisine. With its tantalizing flavors, friendly service, and inviting ambiance, it promises a delightful culinary journey that will leave you longing for more. I highly recommend The Turk to anyone seeking a taste of Turkey right in the heart of...
Read moreFirst time here, went for Saturday night dinner. Seating available with no reservation but we went early. Lovely warm interior decoration, Turkish music in background, pleasantly attentive service. Unfortunately, I only have 1 pic after starting to eat because it all smelled & looked delicious & forgot to take more pics!! Grilled pita bread seasoned with oil & salt, sliced & in a basket was placed on the table after ordering. Had water with lemon. Enjoyed a generous mixed grill appetizer. Wish I remembered the names of each item but basically: 2 falafel squares with sauce; 2 skinny however large lamb patties; 2 spinach pies; & 2 fried filo dough, pinky- finger shaped, filled with feta cheese. Only 2 of us, could've served 3 but we like leftovers 😋. My companion had Moussaka made with ground lamb, potato & eggplant... star ingredient in this my companion thought was the lamb. I had Turkish mixed grill which had 3 succulent, tender grilled lamb chops with a yogurt sauce on the side; 3 grilled jumbo shrimp; a mixed-green salad lightly dressed with oil&vinegar; and a small bowl of delicious rice, half with a light sauce & half plain. Of note, the Moussaka also came with this rice. Took home 1 shrimp, half Moussaka & 1 bowl of rice; cant wait to eat it tomorrow!! For dessert, we had the Turkish tea explained to me as a black tea with a few spices; the Baklava, 3 pieces (2-3 bites each) placed on top of light syrup; the baklava I found to be buttery & sweet with fresh nuts, truly delicious; & good Turkish coffee. We felt transported in time, tasting flovors we haven't had in a long time. A thoroughly enjoyable and delicious meal out. Look forward to...
Read moreSeveral years have passed since my first review. These folks are still as wonderful as our first night visit. Thank you for staying awesome!
Second Visit as awesome as the first! These people are a wonderful choice for good company and good food.
Hospitality and fantastic food are the major pluses for this place. We came in late on a Thursday night, prepared to have a quick meal and leave before being asked to leave at closing, an hour away.
We were wrong. We chatted with the friendly staff, got recommendations, they brought us dessert and never once did we feel pressured to leave. The owner chatted about his Lutes and it was a very comfortable visit over all. Before we knew it, it was two hours later, they had been closed for nearly an hour, but never ushered us out or quickened the pace of a good Turkish meal.
In addition to the absolutely wonderful staff and experience overall, the dining room was comfortable and the food was fantastic! We had the doner plate and Turk Tacos in addition to Turkish beer, a shepherd's salad, meat pies and crisply grilled flatbread. We ended the meal with a delightful dessert and turkish tea. Every bite was a delight to our tongues! Every penny spent was worth the visit. We are definitely planning to visit again (but we won't impose upon their hospitality next time!)
I hope to see you all there. (We traveled from Peekskill to go here....
