The food was excellent and the architecture and setting was quite nice. Unfortunately, several issues marred our experience. We were a large group of parents and children visiting Wausau for a sports tournament, and we were excited to enjoy a well-reviewed restaurant with high-end drinks and eats as well as outdoor seating and a children's menu. We called ahead and were assured we would have service for our group. However: Service took quite some time to arrive and take our orders. Our servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. I do not think there were enough for the number of overall patrons, however. It took over an hour and a half from when we arrived to when food arrived. Adults, and of course post-sports children, were hungry and hangry. There is a children's menu. This menu features Kraft Mac 'N Cheese. I understand this is not fancy. My child likes Kraft. What was brought to him was however fancy, not Mac 'N Cheese. He did not like it. We were asked to settle our children down as they cater to an "adult clientele" who did not appreciate their noise. This was at their outdoor seating area, at a restaurant with a children's menu, with children asked to sit quietly for 1.5 hours waiting for their food. Their online menu has a children's menu. The table menu does not. You just have to pull it up yourself to find it. We ordered a side to come with our meal (Truffle Fries) but it never came. We were charged for it nonetheless.

I think this restaurant needs to figure out what it wants to be. I understand it is hard to find enough servers and other workers currently. I also appreciate that the kitchen staff did an excellent job with the food we received, and the drinks were quite good. Some of my issues are certainly fairly minor. But all-together, given the expectations we had from reviews and the menu, the multiple issues we faced as above, and the overall disinterest in serving families despite the website's suggestion, I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you want a timely, friendly, or accurate...

For a first time experience Tine & Cellar was good. My sister loves this place and chose this as THE place to go for her birthday. That being said, my experience was not a 5 star... and I have to explain why because you will pay for the experience. We went at night. Coming in the place had an awesome atmosphere but we waited to be seated a few minutes by ourselves--long enough to feel awkward with patrons at the bar looking at us. When a waitress finally came she asked us if we were helped. Both my sister and I wondered why else we would have been standing there. (Not to mention you will pay later to your waiter/ress at your table and the place was not that busy.) She was friendly but then sat us on the other side of a stairwell....which would have been fine if it was during the day and we could see outside. But as it was not, it kicked the atmosphere down for me quite a bit. Knocked a star for both service and atmosphere for this as I could tell there were better and open options. That being said, it didn't seem to affect my sis much and we could have asked for a different table. The tables are also quite small even for 2 people. But I am impressed on how they serve food because they serve in such a way that somehow everything fits while still looking classy. And by everything we mean two appetizers, entrees, and drinks (water and specials). And the servings are not skimpy! The food was quite good. If I would recommend anything please try the truffle fries! I don't want to say what my entree was because it was actually quite good just not excellent to me. Because the food is definitely high end in quality, you pay for it! As my entree and one appetizer wasn't exactly as I had hoped, I had to knock it down one star due to the price I paid. Despite the rather awkward start to the night, our waitress was actually very sweet and gave great service. I do intend to come back and try Tine & Cellar again. I just might ask for a better...

I came here on a sunday afternoon a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend. The place had some customers, but seemed very slow. We were seated right away, and our server came to greet us. We had only been sitting for a minute or so and didn't know what kind of beer we wanted, so our server brought us some water and gave us time to look.

When he came back, I requested the banana bread stout but unfortunately they were sold out. I said I needed to look at the menu again, and our server walked away. We were not asked about our beer preferences or given any recommendations, which was unfortunate because I barely recognized any of the beers on the menu.

We waited for nearly 15 minutes for our server to come back. We could see him serving a table of 5 ladies sitting in the bar area- getting them drinks, bringing them food, laughing with them, and generally giving amazing service, while we were completely ignored. I can understand that some tables can be needy, since I used to be a server myself and sometimes tables can take a lot of your time. However, my boyfriend and I sat there and watched this other table get amazing service while we were completely ignored. A table near us, who were seated a couple minutes after we were, got their beer and appetizers from another server while we waited for ours to notice us.

Our server finally noticed us as we were walking out, and looked surprised. My boyfriend was nice and left a couple dollars on the table for our waters, but I was really upset. We had been looking forward to trying the menu here and finding some new favorite beer, but our service was terrible while we watched the table not 15 feet from us get everything they needed. I'm still undecided if we will...

This is the Brunch Edition (open to 1:30). Here’s that thang, I know people can make their own rules but isn’t brunch normally 10-12? Tine’s brunch runs until 1:30pm which, is kinda of different. We were slightly surprised that schedule as we were expecting lunch. I’m gonna be honest, the fries were hands down the best thing that we got. It was well seasoned, crispy, crunchy, the sauce added creaminess and the green onions helped cut through the grease. For $8, you get 3-4 peoples worth. I’m not kidding, you get a LOT. Order one unless you want leftovers. Keeping it 💯, I don’t even want to review the rest of the food. Besides the fries, everything else was forgettable. I’m just gonna bullet this because everything else isn’t worth it. Bacon burrito - Smokey is how I’d describe this, you get smoke tasting sauce, with crunchy smoke and chewy smoke. The entire thing tasted like smoke. Mushroom Brie - decent, savory and nice seasoning. Pork belly Benedict- I’m not a hollandaise expert by any means but this dish lacked salt. Salt and pepper probably could’ve saved the dish because all you tasted was a bland sauce. Pork belly wasn’t salty enough and it didn’t elevate or complement the English muffins, eggs or sauce. Ukrainian pancakes - meh, shredded potato pancake with crème fresh fresh at one end and apple butter at the other. Nothing interesting besides the apple butter. This is the third time I’ve here I’ve always left thinking, man, why are the fries so darn good and everything else so-so?

Wow, wow, wow. This place is amazing! When you walk in the front door you're greeted by friendly, welcoming and trendy design followed by a warm welcome from the host/ hostess. This restaurant follows suit with the trendy and welcoming design throughout with open walls that bring the outside in, black and grey decor that is perfectly accented with warm color accents. Seating is offered upstairs, downstairs and outside. We tried the patio first and found the seating rather uncomfortable 😞so we moved inside. Because I am a tad mature-er than some my personal opinion is that the restaurant is too loud, but perhaps that's because I was on the road all day and just wanted a more relaxing environment. This one is lively!! The service was excellent. Our wait staff provided excellent suggestions and was very friendly and attentive. Now, the food... Yeah... Everything was perfectly prepped, cooked and paired. We started with a fish based appetizer which included roe, cold smoked salmon, whitefish dip, and pickled herring. I LOVED EVERYTHING. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. The hubby had the chicken fried pork steak and that was amazingful. We finished with the lavender creme brulee. Now here is where I have to say they have a tiny bit of room for improvement. The shell didn't provide that perfect crack and the creme could have been a tad thicker but the flavor was absolutely on- point. If I lived here, I would definitely add this place to my list of date-night places.

For what Tine & Cellar aims (and claims) to be, I think they have earned their five stars. Put this restaurant in Brooklyn and they would do stellar, but in Wausau, next to a strip malls worth of cheap eats and hair cuts, it feels a bit over priced - but traffic says many people don't mind, so I'll continue this review not speaking from my current income bracket. The atmosphere is upbeat but calm and with enough sophistication to promise an enjoyable experience for various diners: dates or families, friends or even solo, you'd be comfortable here. We interacted with just one server after seating and they were excellent, good people skills and knew just how much to interact. Service was quick and accurate. While I found drinks small, I don't typically order drinks out. They were much enjoyed by my fellow diners. Truffle fries were light on truffle which I prefer, and crispy. Dinner options are limited but varied enough. We had three different plates which were all well enjoyed, with little leftover. If you are looking for massive plates with take home at a steal, try the chains nearby, but if you are looking to enjoy some elevated dining and relax a bit, Tine & Cellar should be on your list.
