If you're in the area and looking for an excellent restaurant to eat at, you HAVE to go to Wasabi. I will attest that this is BY FAR the BEST Japanese restaurant around. I've been there twice: once on the sushi side, and once on the Teppenyaki side. The sushi is AMAZING. I feel it's better quality than sushi I've had in the Twin Cities (as I've recently moved back after living there for several years). It's beautiful and delicious. The Teppenyaki...I will say I was honestly like, "I've been to a million Teppenyaki places before, they all do the same thing, this will be boring, blah blah"...but I was pleasantly surprised. The food alone was much better than any I'd had anywhere else (ordered the Filet Minion and Lobster). However, it was the service that was OUTSTANDING. I had such a good time at the restaurant this night!!!! Turns out one of the owners was our chef for the night (Tony) and he was a BLAST. Not only is he an extraordinary chef, he's also VERY witty and personable. Further, you can tell that he takes a lot of pride in what he's doing, because his finished dishes were just beautiful and delicious. I HIGHLY recommend this...
Read moreThis is not just delicious food but an amazing and entertaining experience also! I highly recommend the Teppanyaki/hibachi option. Just a heads up to call ahead to make sure they have room for your party. Also, if you do the Teppanyaki/hibachi, there is room for 10 people around each grill which means if your party has fewer than 10 people in it, you could be seated next to people you don't know. The entire Teppanyaki/hibachi experience takes about 2 hours (our reservation was at 6:30pm and went until 8:30pm. I was totally new to this so these are things I didn't know. It is a bit pricey but I really do consider it to be dinner and a show as you get to watch the chef cook your food right in front of you. The chef does tricks with his spatulas and other things that are fun to watch too. The whole thing comes with soup, salad, unlimited steamed rice with miso sauce (so good!!), 2 appetizer shrimp, vegetables, your choice of two meats/proteins, and dessert (ours was raspberry truffle ice cream). It's definitely a once in a while kind of thing because of the price and you are basically eating for 2 hours, but we will...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I dined in at Wasabi this last Sunday, service was excellent and food tasted great. We ordered two sushi rolls and gyozas, everything was cooked, no raw food ordered. Got home sunday night and had the worst stomach cramps, along with diarrhea and throwing up. We both had to call in to work the next day. I've never been so sick!
I called Wasabi today and asked for a manager. The girl on the phone asked what I was calling about and I told her that I might've gotten food poisoning from their restuarant. She got back on the phone with me after a minute and told me both managers were busy and that by WI law, since it was sushi, consuming undercooked food wasn't their fault and there's nothing they could do for me and hung up. WOW.. so rude and SO inconsiderate! I wasn't looking for them to "do" anything for me.. I just wanted them to know.
Definently won't be coming back to this establishment. We've given Wasabi our business multiple times and have had great service up until now. At least show a little respect and compassion to your customers. Shame...
