This has got to be the friendliest restaurant I've ever been too - and probably among the most inexpensive. And tastiest. We stopped here because of the sign outside saying they were serving breakfast. We ordered three pancakes (one for $1.99, two for $2.99), a scrambled egg and a side of hashbrowns, and (free, with breakfast) coffee, and the bill came to $7.40, which would have been a decent price if these were normal-sized pancakes, but they were gigantic, plate-sized pancakes - perfectly cooked and flavorful (we were told the secret was buttermilk and just a touch of vanilla) - just fluffy enough that they absorbed the right amount of butter and syrup without getting soggy and falling apart. Three pancakes was all the two of us could handle.
As we were finishing, the (owner? manager?) came by and talked to us - asked if it was our first time, and when we said yes, he said we get a free cupcake! We were completely stuffed at that point, so we took the cupcakes to go - great selection of flavors - probably at least a dozen different kinds - some fancy, some just "normal". We ate them later that day, and they were also great - one was snickerdoodle-flavored, with lots of cinnamon - and the other was a (vast improvement over a) Hostess cupcake - chocolate icing with a swirl of white, and filled with cream.
They also serve lunch there - small menu with sandwiches, soup, wraps - and a daily special. The day we were there the special was a taco bar with some really promising options (especially the guacamole). We'll definitely have to come back and try this for...
Read moreI used to be very impressed by their bakery items, but it seems like they have went downhill on quality. I hadn't been in the shop in several months, so I was excited to see what they had in store that morning. Upon walking in I noticed the cupcake display had moved, and the cupcakes inside were very minimal. Some of the chocolate cupcakes had their wrappers falling off, some looked deflated and some had ice crystals, but taste is what is important! So I bought 6 cupcakes and brownie. I'm a sugar junkie so I was very excited to try these....Sadly when I got home and opened the box there was a strong smell of freezer burnt. Two of the cupcakes had ice crystal but I figured, it was probably from the display case...Against all my optimism, the first cupcake tasted strongly of freezer burnt, so I sampled the icing on the others....all freezer burnt. So I messaged them on facebook, because the Male general manager I talked to several months ago was always so nice and accommodating (once opened the shop on a holiday, on short noticed so I had cupcakes for an event). I guess the quality of everything has suffered, bc this manager instead of being understanding, only said she doesnt understand how they taste that way, they were baked that morning (end of story) I'm sure this seems petty, but when you go out of your way and pay 3x what you would at JayC or Walmart (both which are delicious, but have basic flavors) you expect them to be edible. I'm just really disappointed, in my...
Read moreHuge Pancake! If you order the Giant Pancake be prepared. It's the size of a small pizza! When you enter Grace's the menu is posted along the wall you walk along. Place your order and pay at the counter. They will bring your order out once prepared. The food came out in 5-7 minutes from the time we paid. The giant Pancake has good flavor. The half order biscuits and gravy (1 biscuit) was ok. Not super flavor, but a decent black pepper flavor. The bacon appears to be baked to me (which I prefer) it wasn't greasy at all. The grits were really good. Added some cheese and hot sauce. All in all a good breakfast at a local mom and Pop type restaurant. Stop in and see...
