We visited this restaurant last year during our vacation and we decided to go back again. I have to admit that the only reason we went back was because my mother in law and I wanted to have the fish tacos. The customer service at this place needs an extreme make over. The customer service the first time was not so great but then again we didn't actually have any issues to bring up with management either. I personally don't care if the wait staff is composed of teenagers...other reviews seem to think that the issue is the age of the wait staff. I whole heartedly believe that the issue lies with the owner. I'll try to explain the situation in the least amount of wording possible. We had a party of 5, which consisted of 4 adults and our 1 year old. My mother in law and I decided to split the fish tacos, my husband ordered the quesadilla, and my father in law just wanted a plain grilled cheese. The waitress wrote down the order and then came back and said, "if you are ordering a grilled cheese it is going to be an extra $4 charge for an adult ordering off the kids menu." Honestly, we didn't really know how to respond because we didn't say that we wanted a grilled cheese from the kids menu and we didn't ask about pricing. He just ordered a grilled cheese because he didn't like the food from the last visit time we were there. My mother in law commented that she wondered if the grilled cheese was bigger or if we would be charged an extra $4 if the grilled cheese was for my daughter but one of us took a bite because let's face it...what 1 year old cleans their plate? Never the less, this wasn't the issue. It wasn't for my daughter it was for an adult. If the waitress had any ettiquette the issue probably would have never come up...if it is your policy to charge $10 for a grilled cheese then just do it and we can ask later. Instead, she went to the bar to talk trash about us to the owner and the rest of the staff. The waitress came back AGAIN and offered my father in law a different sandwhich. At that point, my mother in law asked to speak to the owner. Usually, the owner of a place would always agree with the customer...definitely not what happened here. The owner argued back and forth with both my mother in law and husband in front of our1 year old. I intervened and asked for a check. The other owner (I guess boyfriend and girlfriend?) slapped the check on the table and basically said see ya as he tried to pick a fight with my husband. Worst experience ever, worst customer service, and all in front of a 1 year old. Not kid friendly, not family friendly at all. I will never go back. But hey, all I am missing out on is a lovely strip mall view of Target and Home Depot and supposedly rotten fish (what another customer said). Thanks for not taking our...
Read moreWe had been going to this restaurant at least 1-2 times a month for over 5 years until recently. The quality of the food was going downhill and so I spoke to the owner about it. He knew us and seemed to take my comments to heart. A few visits later my son bit into a chicken bone that was in his sandwich. I spoke to our waiter (who turned out to be the owners son but I had no idea at the time) and he replaced the sandwich but told me that they order their chicken boneless so they don't even look for bones. Guess if you order it boneless that absolves the restaurant of any responsibility and liability 🙄. And we were expected to pay for that sandwich. The next time we went there, which was the absolute last time we will ever step foot in there, my son bit into uncooked grains of rice (to the point of hurting his tooth) twice, there was something hard and "unchewable" in the chicken, and we were served a little container of queso which had a huge chunk of congealed cheese in it. I saw Chris (the owner) sitting at the bar so I went over to talk to him and this guy had the audacity to attack my character because of the shortcomings of his kitchen staff. I have never been so insulted in my life. And when it became apparent that he didn't have the capacity to have a conversation about what was going on in his restaurant and I turned to leave he said "so you're going to turn and walk away?" I could not believe this guy...especially after we had been very loyal customers for well over 5 years. There are plenty of other places in the area to dine that have awesome food, actually appreciate loyal customers, and care about the quality of the food that they serve so unless you're a fan of biting into and being charged for bones, unidentifiable "hard things" in your chicken, uncooked rice, and congealed cheese I'd pick a...
Read moreWe decided to give Flip Flops a try. Got there at Happy Hour which turned out to be a good thing. We sat at the bar thinking we would get good service. The Bartender spent more time talking to either his regulars or friends (I don’t know which) then getting our order or food. The sangrias and margaritas were the best thing we had. Ordered Calamari which took awhile to come and they didn’t seem that busy. It looked very good when it came out. Lightly breaded could see something that looked like seasoning on it. As we all know looks can be deceiving! It was very chewy and had know flavor. For dinner we ordered the Chorizo Burger and the BBQ Fish Tacos. The only flavor my burger had was the Chorizo and Cheese. The burger itself had no flavor and was dry (frozen?). With my burger I also ordered the fresh vegetables which were barely cooked, very crunchy should have been on a salad. The BBQ Fish Tacos had good toppings the fish again dry and no flavor on its own. It seemed like a nice local place for Vets like myself to go but I do not think...
