This Las Palmas 3 recently opened where the Virginian Steak House used to be. It is located just south of the Laskin Rd. and Virginia Beach Blvd. intersection. There is plenty of parking available. They also have some outdoor seating as well. My visit here was on September 10, 2020.
When first coming in, it reminds me of how the other two Las Palmas locations are set up for the most part. We came in at an off peak time, so we were immediately seated when we came in. Social distancing measures are in place here. Almost as we were being seated, someone came to the table with the chips, salsa and white sauce. The server came by shortly after asking for what drinks we would like. Now, to the menu. The menu is the same as it is for their other two locations in the area. When the server came back with the drinks, he asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite ready yet. A few minutes later we were ready to order, but it took a while for the server to finally come back to the table. We did get the cheese dip as an appetizer. I got the Burrito California entrée and my mom got the Beef Tips Chimichangas entrée.
A few moments after ordering, the cheese dip was brought to the table. We had some time to indulge in that until the entrees came out to the table. The food came out maybe ten minutes later, which was a good timing since we had the cheese dip. The food was good and is the same as if you went to one of their other locations. The portion sizes are pretty big too. The only thing that was a bit off was trying to get the attention of the server. At one point we were trying to get his attention to get some additional napkins. He was in a service area that we could see from our table and was talking with other servers in that area. We were finally able to get his attention to get those additional napkins. By the time we were done, the place was getting busier.
Overall, this Las Palmas 3 is just as good as their other locations. The food was great as always with this local chain. Service was the piece that needed some work on this visit, but it wouldn't stop me from coming back again. If you are in the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach and looking for a Mexican place to eat, this is definitely a...
Read moreI am only giving this place a poor review because of the treatment my service dog Maverick and I received yesterday. I’ve been to Las Palmas before and the food and atmosphere were wonderful, so I will not discredit them for that. But as soon as I walked in with my SERVICE DOG yesterday, we instantly were told that we needed to sit outside or in a corner of the restaurant because “my dog could not be in the restaurant” and near the other customers dining inside. I was taken aback because as soon as I was told this, there was a customer in a wheelchair who was sitting in the front of the restaurant getting ready to leave. You accommodated for him, but not for me, and it really made me feel like there was something wrong with ME and MY disability. You should have treated us the exact same because we both had accommodations that helped us with our disabilities dine in your restaurant. Maverick alerts me of my high and low blood sugars that especially helps me during times of eating out at places that I am not 100% positive on the carb counts. You broke ADA law by telling me we had to sit away from everyone and OUTSIDE THE RESTAURANT when ADA law protects me and my service dog to access every public space, including the seating areas in restaurants. You asking me to sit outside with Maverick is like asking me to rip off my continuous glucose monitor if I was sitting inside. Please educate your staff, and please ensure this does not happen again. Because of how you treated Maverick and I, I will not be able to eat at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town because I fear you will treat me the same again. Completely unacceptable. Do better, and be better for those who may want to eat here with their service...
Read morePoor Service, got our dinner, way before our cocktails. Over priced for what you get, we ordered Texas fajitas for 2, small flour tortillas, instead of the large ones, and little to no cheese on the plate.Waitress, only bought the food to table, and ticket, never refilled the chips and salsa and white sauce. Giving 3 stars, because the flavor of the dish was good. Moving rating down to 1 star...went back a day later, after being persuaded to go with a friend, for lunch. Placed cocktail order with person who seated us, then waitress came by to take our order, did not ask about our drink order...We ordered 2 medium margaritas, got the small ones, and they tried to charge us for the large margaritas???...also one drink was a strawberry margarita, but was garnished with pineapple and an orange ??? Where was the strawberry and lime. Also, the waitress, walked by and asked us, if we needed something, and LITERLY, kept walking by, never waiting for a reply... we wanted more chips and salsa, (did not get more chips and salsa) got so disgusted, I just wanted to leave, but my friend, went ahead and placed a desert order with the person, busing the table, I was just ready to go. ALSO, the check should not come to the table, until you have completed your meal. You know you pay for your meal, for what you order, and we tip , based on the service we receive, and no waitress, should feel that they are "entitled" to the standard 15% tip, they must earn it, just like you and I have to work to get our money. How sad, we were really looking for a decent meal and service, after quartinning for these past 5-6 months. Will go somewhere else, where the customers are served and appreciated, and...
