DOMOISHI Ramen, Poké, Wings and Tea — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

This fast asian-casual spot is a great spot to grab and go a quick meal. The unique thing about this domoishi compared to other locations, is that they offer MOCHI DONUTS! This is the only spot in Virginia Beach that has mochi donuts that I've come across. If you don't know what mochi donuts are, they're basically chewy Japanese mochi in the form of American donuts. The mochi donuts come in six flavors: strawberry, ube, nutella/chocolate, plain, matcha, and oreo. They are my FAVORITE!! They also offer unique asian street food, such as the beef bulgolgi bun. THIS BUN WAS PERFECTION. It was so soft and fluffy, and it exceeded my expectations! I'm still craving it right now. It had a perfect amount of sweetness. The ramen bowls are good for if you want a quick lunch! The chashu pork was cooked amazingly and flavorful. Poke bowls were really fresh and filled to the top! It had a good amount of sauce and is better than average. Their drinks and boba came in generous amounts for such a cheap price. The cups are HUGE! Last but not least, the korean fried chicken wings (soy garlic) are some of my favorite asian wings in the area. If you like asian style wings like me, this is for you. The people working there were so nice and genuinely care about their customers. They are offering a special deal right now: free mochi donut if you order over $20. Thought it was a fluke last time- something tasted not quite right and my stomach had hurt. I thought maybe because I had mixed foods that day but tried them again last night. Woke up at 1:30am and had to… expunge the meal I had spent over $30 on. Very much not pleasant and again, something had tasted off with the food. I won’t be coming back again. I recommend Molly Ramen instead. I haven’t tried Bonchon yet but I definitely won’t be coming back to this place after a second bad experience.

In response to the owner because I don’t know how to reply back. This location is the only one I’ve been to as I live close by. Both times it was later in the evening. Both times, I had the soy garlic wings, a sushi roll and boba. This is my usual combination that I get even at other restaurants of similar menus. Last night I waited patiently for my order that took longer than usual. People who ordered after me got their food first. I don’t typically mind as long as my food is right. Ordered online, they accepted my online order, and processed a hold for the payment. We drove 20 minutes to pick it up, and when we got there, we find out they canceled our order and closed the kitchen - AN HOUR EARLY.

I asked why did they cancel our order, and close the kitchen an hour early, and the response was... We have to clean the restaurant? What? Really, did he just say that? Having grown up in the restaurant business, as well as, common knowledge, you clean up AFTER you close! Now if he said we had to close early for private reason, I would have been ok with that, because things happen.

I asked if they could still fulfil the order, right after someone came in after me and picked up an online order, and the self order station was still open. The response was no, they had to clean up, and not 1, NOT 1 apology. It was as if they could care less, and if that is how much they care about customers, then I don't care to go back.
