They got our large party in quickly, but took almost 30 minutes to get our drink orders and give us menus. Another almost 20 mins for waters and cocktails, then another 15 to order appetizers at the same time we ordered our dinner. The food DID come out hot and in order. Lamb chops were ordered medium; could have used a little more spice/flavor, but overall the dish was good! The scalloped potatoes were delicious!
Did not see our server much, but he was kind enough to bring our baby some bread to nosh on while we waited for our meals. Would have liked to have tried the calamari, but were told that the catch had not been good lately (as in, ill-inducing), so they were not serving it at the moment. (Thank you for not allowing us to order it--MUCH appreciated, but you should probably take it off/reprint the paper menu!) The pepperoni and sausage flat bread we ended up ordering was mouthwatering! That said, the French dip was also delish. We didn't want it to end!
Lastly, we asked to order dessert. There were only 3 options and we wanted to order 2 of them. One was key lime pie (update: ate at home and was scrumptious!)-- and the other was a vanilla bean créme brûlée. We wanted to order the desserts to-go, as we had our 9mo old with us and had now been here 2 1/2 hours.
I was pretty disappointed when our server told us they would not do the créme to-go. Since it is made in a ramekin, it can apparently only be eaten in-house. We said we didn't mind if it was to be brought out and we would box it or if it was broken down, out of the ramekin, and were told it wasn't possible. Just disappointing. Never heard anything like that before. Odd.
All this said, I would give 3 1/2 stars, but 4 I think is pushing it. Very limited menu, and my husband cannot have seafood, so I believe he had about a handful of options in total, between appetizers and entrees.
Definitely recommend the french dip and the flatbread, but I probably won't go back for anything but drinks on the deck and maybe an appetizer--or to actually be able to taste the créme! The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. Beautiful views! I will definitely...

My partner and I visited the Porch last night for a celebratory dinner with a party. We arrived first, checked in, and were offered to wait at the bar indoors or the âporchâ bar. We decided to sit at the porch bar. There were maybe about 5 or 6 patrons at the bar when we sat down. The bartender, Caitlyn (sp?), never acknowledged us, while we sat there, without a menu, for a little less than 5 minutes. To be clear, it was not super busy. However, even if she was super busy, a little acknowledgment that she would be right with us, give her a moment, hand us a menu, anything would have been nice. She literally came within 2 feet of us to get something nearby and still never even made eye contact, smiled, nodded, anything. As I looked around at the other patrons, I noticed we were the only black couple sitting out there at the time. So, take from that what you will. It was rude, and as someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I have an expectation to be acknowledged within a reasonable amount of time. If we were not there for this party, we certainly would have left at this point and given the restaurant 1 star solely based on this interaction or lack there of. We decided to go back inside to the other bar and were acknowledged as soon as we sat down. We ordered our drinks and awaited the arrival of our party.
Dinner service with Connor was amazing! He was prompt, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the menu, as we did have several questions. Connor gets a 10 out of 10! The shrimp scampi was amazing, although I only had 3 shrimp. The crab dip was good, but did seem to have onions in it, which I wasnât a fan of. But overall, everyone seemed to love what they had for dinner. And the drinks were good as well!
I would have given 5 stars if I didnât have the experience at the outdoor bar. So, I had to give a 3...

We were a group of successful Latina businesswomen celebrating a birthday, excited to enjoy a night out at The Porch in Virginia Beach. Unfortunately, what should have been a joyful evening quickly turned into a painful and humiliating experience due to the staffâs condescending and dismissive behavior.
From the beginning, we were treated as if we were beneath themâspoken to with passive-aggressive tones, ignored when asking questions about the menu or drinks, and overall made to feel unwelcome. The waiter, in particular, repeatedly cut us off when we inquired about ingredients or substitutions, as if we were bothering him for simply wanting to understand what we were ordering.
I personally ordered the flounder, which was supposed to come with roasted tomatoes, artichokes, seasonal vegetables, lemon caper beurre blanc, and mashed potatoes. I kindly asked to substitute the mashed potatoes for fries. What I received was an overcooked, dry, and overly salty piece of fish served with just two dried-out asparagus spearsâno vegetables, no beurre blanc sauce, and certainly not what was described on the menu. It was nearly inedible.
The most painful part of the night wasnât the bad foodâit was the clear undertone of prejudice. We were stereotyped, dismissed, and looked down upon in a way that was subtle but unmistakably rooted in bias. It was passive-aggressive racism at its finest.
Paying a $927 bill to be disrespected and belittled was heartbreaking. Beautiful location, absolutely terrible service. We will not be returningâand we sincerely hope this review prompts management to reevaluate how they treat guests. Thank you Barney the waiter for ruining...
