We came by on a Saturday night and they promptly seated our party of 3. Our waitress was very sweet and took our drink orders. When she came back to take our orders, we asked for a pizza to share before the main course so she said she's bring it out before our burgers My friend wanted meatloaf which she let us know they were out of, which is fine. He then ordered a burger and fries instead. I also ordered the burger. The food took a while to come but that was not a big deal. It's the weekend, I get it. When she brought out our food, our mains came out first. She placed our burgers in front of us and didn't acknowledge that there were chips on our plates instead of fries. She asked if we needed anything else and I asked if we could order some fries (stating I would have ordered some of I knew it came with chips). She told us they were actually out of fries and that she knew it sucked and asked if we wanted any sides. We said no thanks and she started to walk away. I then asked if our pizza was ready and she said "oh yes, let me bring it out." When it came out, it had clearly been sitting for a while because it was cold and soggy 😂 We had to try hard to get her attention and she was sitting with friends (or family) between waiting her tables.
At the end of our meal, she asked if we wanted the check and my friends asked to see a dessert menu. She brought it to us and told us the lava cake and the skillet cookie were not available. My friend ordered a basic chocolate chip cookie and my other friend ordered a different dessert. When the desserts came out, she put them down and walked away. Much to our surprise, there was something that resembled the skillet cookie in front of my friend who ordered the basic chocolate chip cookie. When she came back around, I asked her what the dessert was and she said they didn't have the chocolate chip cookie so she substituted with the closest thing to it which was the skillet cookie. Very confusing 😂 it was a good dessert but so strange to substitute and not ask.
When the checks came, there was a charge on each called "ADJ FEE (3.50%)". I asked what this was to which she replied that she didn't know and that it's weird because other restaurants don't do that. She then said she can't do much about it.
We would not have ordered burgers if we knew there were no fries. The chips were not the satisfying kind of chips. The burger was good but not worth $19 without the fries.
Never have I been served something different than what we ordered without an acknowledgment. If something needs to be substituted, be upfront about it and ask what we'd like to do. We're literally right there.
Please train your staff on what the adjustment fee is.
I was wondering what was up with all the bad reviews since I'd been here a while ago and my experience was totally fine! Now I understand 😂 not sure if they went through some ownership or management change but this experience was not great. Our waitress really was very sweet but maybe they don't train their staff well. She did adjust the price of the skillet cookie for my friend since she substituted a $13 item in place of a $4 so that was nice 🤷🏽♀️
As this place is run, we would not...
Read moreNo way, another superb breakfast joint located right in my neck of the woods — in the heart of the Ashburn area!
As soon as I came here and saw the “Habit Burger Grill” sign, I knew I’d swung by here at least twice before, but for some reason I totally missed that this place even existed!! I say, what a happy surprise. Totally worth it.
Overly generous parking lot up front, clear of reserved parking spots as far as the eye can see. Smooth sailing here is the understatement of the year, no doubt.
Iconic storefront, will archive it in my mind forevermore — next to the overly colorful Habit Burger sign!
I came by entirely on a whim, and totally it was not a “swing and a miss” in any sense of the term. Arrived a little after 11 on a Tuesday morning, close to the store opening times.
Arrived and promptly requested for “dine in”. And equally as promptly, I was seated in the room adjoining the forward-facing one.
Drinks were up first on the board, so I asked for fruit juices and then narrowed the choice to Orange Juice (OJ). It is not fresh made, the waitress stated as such, but relatively well priced so I called it a steal of sorts.
I’d read solid reviews on the breakfast fare, so I made a beeline for the “Swanky Egg Benedict” that came with chicken, biscuits, and poached egg, without any hesitation at all.
I snapped photos of the surrounding area, my glass of OJ, and my hat, since I was still soaking in the splendor of the late-morn ambience. Well, that and I realistically had nothing better to do. OJ was pretty decent, nothing to draft a long, painstakingly handwritten note to inevitably mail home and all, but a solid hitter on a mid-league team all the same.
The main course arrived, and my, oh my what a “Swanky” Benedict indeed! Enough to tip your hat at in any case — if I was still wearing mine, that is.
The hash browns were just the right size to “fork” up, and we’re hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had. Crispy and salted to enjoyment.
The SB (open-faced biscuit with fried chicken, bacon, poached egg, and hollandaise) was beyond incredible and exceeded my wildest expectations. Safe to say it is assuredly the best Eggs Benedict I’ve had in my (young but not so young) life. Wowza! All of it was flavorful and tantalized my taste buds. My favorite part of it was the (not overly-runny) yolk of the poached-just-right egg, mixed with the fried chicken and the affirming hardness of the biscuit. It tasted just right. My one gripe, the bacon sort of overpowered the (otherwise enjoyable) taste of chicken and egg. Otherwise, I wouldn’t change a thing.
All in all, incredible spot for breakfast or brunch. The chef who cooked my SB dish was a culinary genius, by my liberal estimation. Hats off to her/him! Everyone there was kind and welcoming as a general rule of thumb, which was also great.
I snapped photos of their weekly specials — and nope, I have not tried their lunch or dinner menu! Looking forward to it though. I’ll definitely be back. For breakfast, at least once more — to sample a novel offering...
Read moreLoud with poor lighting Our second visit to this newly opened BC in our neighborhood was not as pleasant as the first time. Both time the food and service was excellent and a great value. During our first visit we sat outside in an easy afternoon and had a wonderful expertise. So much so that we decided to take some friends along a couple week later. There was a wait and we were asked for our phone number, to call us when a table became available. The wait was 30 minutes, we were told. We waited in the patio for more than 40 minutes, and no call. I checked with the young and pleasant hostess, "We called you and you did not answer," she replied. Naturally, we did not receive any calls. Never the less, it wasn't a big deal since they offered us a table immediately. We were taken to the dining area on the west end of the restaurant. My wife rejected the first table on account of it being squeezed in the corner in front of a double door leading to the kitchen and the service station, with heavy traffic of restaurant's employees. A spot where no good restaurant would ever dare placing a table. Finally we were sat a few tables away, across from the bar. The table lacked its own lighting and we had to use our phones to lit and read the menu. Tables closer to the large window facing the parking lot were blessed with light coming from outside, I must add. Lighting aside, this section of the restaurant was incredibly loud on account of bare floor and walls. It felt as if we were dining in a public Turkish bathhouse. People's chatter was deafening, amplified bouncing off the walls and the cement floor. We had to shout across the small table to hear each other. Andrea, our server, even though we had hard time hearing him, was very professional and wonderful. While I understand the place is new and like anything else new, it needs time for it to settle and work out the small issues, but the design of the specific dining area that I mentioned should have been better planned. Hopefully by our next trip the management have resolved the noise and lighting issue in that section by hanging canvases or tapestries of some sort to absorb the sound and adding some candles or ceiling lights to remedy the otherwise, dark and hard...
