Cast Plates & Pints — Restaurant in Virginia

Second visit to Cast Plates and Pints was Friday 6/11/21 and the meal and service (not so much on our server's part but overall establishment performance) was less than average for my taste. The wait time was unacceptable for the meal and each need took forever for response. One member of our party's salad came after meal, had to be reminded of and same party received the fries they declined which were to be replaced by the salad order. Another in our party considering salad purchase needed to know about inclusion of spinach in the fresh mix or not and was told yes spinach is in the salads however experience with the other member of our party's salad showed no spinach so ultimately we not able to make clear choices on a menu item. A burger served to our party which on menu states adorned with lettuce came with soft spring mix level greens which were slimy and ruined by warmth of the burger and removed before the party ate their burger. Condiments were not provided at all, had to be asked for salt and pepper were brought but sweeteners for tea never brought, I used some I had on my person. I personally had dumpling soup and a fries with gravy and tasso ham appetizer. Both menu choices were average, edible but nothing exceptional or particularly appealing and at $5.99 and $10.99 respectively, definitely overpriced in my opinion. Our server was very kind, friendly and a delightful personality however his polite attentiveness does not unfortunately really better any opinion of the kitchen and other establishment support. Both times I have tried this somewhat newer locale it has been to join a party who had chosen this establishment and I was likewise unimpressed with my first visit. My better half and I have eaten here a few times. Customer service was great every time! Food is amazing! We have tried the filet, fried green tomatoes, Mac n cheese bites, steak tacos, tempura chicken tenders and the Cuban panini.

The filet was a perfect medium rare served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with delicious asparagus and an amazing drizzle that finished the plate perfectly!

The fried green tomatoes came out on a long plate served with pimento cheese and topped with its own drizzle. Just amazing!!!

The Mac n cheese bites are golf ball size, crunchy on the outside and perfectly creamy on the inside. Seasoned the way you would want them to be, perfect!

The steak tacos were delicious! 2 tacos served with fries. The tacos are served with a corn salsa and fresh slices of avocado which I believe really make this dish.

The tempura chicken tenders are not your typical fried chicken tenders. These are not hard crunchy tenders. Instead you get numerous tenders carefully dipped into a tempura batter and fried to perfection. We added honey mustard and ranch to finish this perfect for adult and children dish.

The Cuban panini is as you would expect. An amazing pork sandwiched between two slices of crunchy toast with all the traditional Cuban flavors you’d expect. This was served with fries.

So far all of our experiences have been wonderful. In a time where people are dealing with so much, please visit this restaurant and treat yourself to a great experience and amazing food!!! You will not be...

Chill laid back sports bar with all the amenities. Plenty of TVs, pool table, friendly seating so if you're just there to unwind after work instead of watching a game, you can find a sequestered corner to relax with friends. Acoustics are good so you don't have to yell to have a convo.

Bar is a well stocked and well staffed big "L" in the middle of it all. COVID19 friendly seating. Bar and wait staff are all competent and friendly, very pro. I've never seen it really overcrowded, but things ARE just beginning to open up. Staff are all masked. Hours will soon change... They'll soon be open til 2am as in days of yore as restrictions lift.

In addition to being a laid back sports bar, it's also quite a nice restaurant. Decent, varied menu (mostly Americana) and not just bar food. I wouldn't say it's 5 star as a restaurant but it's good and the dishes have an artisan feel and taste to them. Far far better than you'd expect, way far better than something like an Applebee's. Worth going to for just food.

Decent for a date, the big game, or just chilling after work. Atmosphere and decor are light and mellow. ADA compliant and there's HC parking, but if I were in a chair I'd want someone to hold the heavy entrance doors. I wouldn't necessarily recommend for kiddos, as it is at heart a sports bar.
