Worthy Mex-Tex restaurant in Bristow!
Took my family of four to Cinco de Mayo Tex Mex Grill ("Cinco") for lunch today and we all walked out delighted, full, and looking forward to visiting again and having a few margaritas with our meal. Also, for an evening meal, we'd very much like to try their ceviche and other appetizers.
The restaurant was clean, roomy, and inviting. Pleasant Mexicano music was playing on the stereo and the interior was tastefully and creatively decorated with a lit up tree and a wall-spanning 3D artwork of horses in gallop. Coming in, we felt comfortable and welcome right away. We were met and led to a corner booth by a friendly server.
The menu has a broad variety of dishes for most any taste. I would say the dishes and ingredients tend toward the mainstream American taste but it doesn't matter as you go in with the right expectations. What matters are the ingredients and their preparation, both of which were of good quality. If you are looking for birria or lengua or anything further off Main Street, there are other good options. But for easy access, quality and variety, Cinco is more than acceptable.
Our entrees were the fish tacos, carne asada fajitas, carne asada chimichanga, and taco/enchilada combo. The quantity of all dishes was more than appropriate for lunch (or dinner) and the flavors were clean. Crispy things were crispy, creamy things were creamy, and the guacamole was fresh. The carne meat was plentiful and flavorful. We also enjoyed the crispy and flavorful fish and soft tortillas. The table chips were thin and crispy and the house salsa tangy and bright with just a touch of heat.
The server was pleasant, engaging, and professional. Just a delight to have him take care of us. There were no complaints or problems at all. Lunch at Cinco was an uncommon, smooth, pleasant and satisfying experience in all respects.
We will definitely return to sample more of their very fine food.
By the way, I refere to Cinco as "Mex-Tex" because the atmosphere was more south of the border than Amarillo. We felt that they set a wonderful, authentic-feeling atmosphere in an accessible setting that provides good food at a good value.
Five stars here means "in relation to comparable tiered dining experiences" and in that category, Cinco was well worth our time...
Read moreNew restaurant in Bristow Center, worth visiting! I was not really hungry and remembered seeing their sign up before they were open, so I figured I would stop in; and I am glad I did! Single words to describe my experience: Service, Friendliness, Flavor, Quality, Freshness, Family, Decor. A nice sign attracted my attention, the interior decor was great too! Beautiful artwork, relief mural of horses running across the desert, the bar and even the lighting were all well thought out and detailed. Also there was beautiful Mexican music playing in the background. Greeted with a friendly smile, the salsa served with the chips was very flavorful and delicious. A bottle of water was brought to the table, which wasn’t just tap water like some places serve. I ordered the Ceviche Mixta and Shrimp Quesadilla (I wasn’t hungry), both of which were brought out quick and had nice presentation. The ceviche was perfect! Excellent flavor and better than some/most Peruvian places I have eaten at! The shrimp quesadilla was also flavorful and not greasy, which tells me that they use quality cheeses and the shrimp didn’t taste like dirt, but were cooked perfectly and had a nice fresh flavor. The owner came by and asked how everything was and was very friendly and sincere. My whole experience makes me want to go back and try everything else on the menu,...
Read moreJust discovered this restaraunt and we will be coming back. Alejandro was spot on for service, gave great recommendations on the food. We had the ground beef burrito and the shredded beef enchelada. The shredded beef was amazing, tender and juicy. Beef burrio was good, although it could have been a little spicer (according to my husband but he likes food that can melt your face). We had the Chile con Queso (white cheese base) and that was great, nice and savory. We'll try the yellow base one next time. The quacamole was spectacular, best I've had in a very long time. Portion size was perfect as well.
The atmosphere was great, music was at a nice background level and they did a great job with sound contol, didn't have to shout to hear each other talk. Reasruant was very clean, neatly laid out and spacious.
Highly recommend to anyone that likes Tex-Mex and a great dining experience. We'll be going again, next time we're getting desert (they...
