I have come here a few times: a couple times with a friend and the most recent time was by myself. The first couple times, the service was pretty solid: we were seated quickly, and our orders taken shortly after we were seated. We got nachos and a couple other finger foods. The most recent time, I came in by myself in the afternoon. I was immediately greeted by the host, and I requested to sit at the bar. It took about 15 minutes (maybe even longer) before the 2 gentleman bartenders acknowledged me or even ask if I was ready to put in an order. I was only acknowledged when a lady bartender came in. She greeted me and asked if I was ready to place an order, which I was. I was waiting to get a margarita or long island iced tea, but with how irritated I was becoming waiting to place an order, I opted for a mocktail recommendation. She recommended a black cherry type of mocktail based on what I tend to like. She checked in on me several more times while I waited and after I had gotten my food. I appreciated her service; I didn't appreciate the other bartenders just ignoring me. that was a little bit annoying, especially since several customers who came in after me got waited on first.
I had ordered the pulled pork nachos along with the recommended black cherry mocktail. Some of the nacho chips were a little bit stale, so it was a bit disappointing. The mocktail was a tad bit too sweet, but the bartender was kind enough to dilute it for me with a little bit more lemon juice and club soda.
There was a live performer singing for some of the time that I was there. There were different kinds of groups that were in there: some families with kids, friend groups, solo diners, etc. It was a pretty laid-back atmosphere, and I quite enjoyed it.
Overall, good service when I actually received one. Food was okay. I liked the atmosphere, but the food and the length of time I had to wait to actually receive service makes it unlikely for me...
Read moreBEST KEPT SUNDAY BRUNCH SECRET EVER! After partying all night at our wedding celebration at Bar Louie, we had gotten up Sunday in search of brunch. I had taken my family to Ted's Bulletin because I have been there before and had a great experience. We walked into Ted's to find it would be a 1 hour and 30 minutes wait until we could get a table. We were not about this life, so we left. We walked down the street and found City Tap. We weren't sure if they were open but saw that the lights were on so we walked in. We were greeted by two very friendly young ladies and the first question out of my mouth was, "Do you serve brunch?" They both replied, "yes" , and showed us the menu. I was immediately sold as the first item on the brunch menu is, "Pecan Pie French Toast". I was like, "sign me up!"
It didn't take long at all to get a table as there was NO ONE else in the restaurant. I thought, why not? We got to our table and were then greeted by Jessica who took care of us the remainder of our time there. I of course ordered the Pecan Pie French Toast, and a few other things cause I'm a fatty, and damn was it good! Definitely going down as some of the best French Toast I have ever had, and let me tell you, I have had A LOT of French Toast. The rest of the food was equally as good as my family and two friends raved about their meals as well. If you find yourself in One Louden and are looking for a brunch spot you have to check out City Tap. Don't let the name fool you, it's more than just a bar. I believe this is why there was no one else in the restaurant for brunch. It has to be that most don't know they serve brunch. Well, THEY DO and it's FANFRICKENTASTIC! Huge thank you to Jessica for putting up with me...
Read moreHad dinner here on Valentine's Day. To be honest, it wasn't our first choice, but we're very glad we were able to enjoy a nice last minute V Day dinner here! They had a special menu for the day, where we could pick one app and one dessert to share and choice of two entrees from a selection of their usual offerings, but we opted to go for different apps and desserts. We got the elote corn dip (amazing) and I got their hefeweizen on tap, which was a very nice choice for beer; very smooth with hints of fruitiness. For entrees we got their spicy chicken sandwich that came with fries, a kids cheeseburger with fries, and the seafood pasta which came with mussels and shrimp. The chicken sandwich was good, it had a couple of tenders with a simple flour breading with a spicy sauce. Don't expect it to be like a certain famous chicken fast food spot's sandwich, but it was satisfying nonetheless. Our kid loved the cheeseburger, fries are shoestring, seasoned to perfection. Seafood pasta was also good, a little light on seasoning but nothing an extra sprinkle of salt couldn't fix. Plus the addition of some parmesan cheese and red chili flakes brought it to life. For dessert we got their loaded root beer float, which came with a dark chocolate cake and waffle. It's kinda in the style of one of those Instagram-bait milkshakes. I have to say, the float is great. The cake was heavy with the chocolate, almost like a fudge brownie consistency. The waffle was a perfect touch, dipping it in the root beer and ice cream was a dangerous but tasty combo.
Overall, we had a great experience here at City Tap. Admittedly, it was also our first time dining here but it left a nice first impression. We'd love to...
