I was over in Newport News last weekend helping my mother find a new car and when it was time for lunch I decided to give the Yorktown location of the County Grill a try. I've been to their Hampton location several times over the years and felt pretty good about trying out what I'm told is their original location. We popped in around 1pm and the place was just starting to clear out a bit from their lunch crowd. There was no wait at all and we were immediately seated by the hostess. Likewise our server was there immediately to drop off menus and silverware and take our drink order. He returned a couple moments later with the drinks and a basket of corn muffins. I ordered the Pork Shoulder BBQ Sandwich. It comes with 2 sides so I added Fries and Collards. Mom ordered the same except she had the Sweet Potato fries with her meal. After a short wait, our lunches arrived. I had warned Mom that it was going to be a lot of food and while she was expecting a big lunch she wasn't prepared for the sheer size of her sandwich. The BBQ as always was delicious. I finished my meal, Mom ate about half of hers and boxed the rest. We also tucked the remaining corn muffins in her box. We were in and out of there in about an hour and back out to the car dealerships after that. All in all, a great visit. Pros: Friendly, Clean, Fast Service, Great Food. Cons: None. If you're yearning for some BBQ, check them out if you're in Yorktown or Hampton.

Oh my Goodness!!! Why have we Not heard of this place before tonight?!! If you LOVE BBQ don't walk but run to your vehicle and go to County Grill & Smokehouse right Now!! We had a party of 8, didn't call ahead so we had to wait for a table, and I tell you what!! It was Well worth it!! (When I got my menu I thought it was a little pricy until I got my meal and changed my mind. The prices were Great for the amount of food you get.) I ordered the Mississippi Peacemaker (In which was HUGE!! A huge chunk of pork, a sausage, and lots of bacon, cheese, & fried onions, All on a bun) with slaw and beans as my sides and also ordered potato boats in which were potato skins with bacon, chilli sauce, and cheese. When my food arrived I was like "😮Wow!!!" & Yes, I definitely had to get a doggy bag! It was so Yummy-licious!! Ace, my son, ordered a double cheeseburger with sides of fries and mac-n-cheese! He said his burger was the biggest he's ever had, the fries were really good, and he loved the mac-n-cheese. He also recommends this place. There's a bar too in which has a Great assortment of different beers on tap! The waitress was Awesome! The people were Awesome! The food was Amazing! Most definitely going back for more! You have to go!! My son, Ace and I give this place a 4 thumbs up! And give it more thumbs up but we only have 2 each 😜

Arrived around 9:40 and ordered the taco tuesday special and then saw the bread pudding and put another order for that one. About 30 minutes later i had not received anything yet and was told they were having issues with the banana pudding and notices the tacos were already made and just sitting. I didnt want the actual meal to get cold while waiting for a dessert so i just ate there while i waited for the rest of my food. I was a bit bothered at first mostly because i didnt want my actual food getting cold. Asked for my meal and they gladly gave it to me. Food was still warm and extremely good. Ate the brisket and pulled pork before i got too full to eat the third taco. Brisket 8/10 amazing flavor, very tender and plenty of it. The pulled pork didnt stand out too much but still tasty 6/10 on that and i didnt get to eat the chicken one and i cant judge food that i had as leftovers but the leftovers re heated well. Got my banana pudding and had a few bites before i put it down. The dessert is extremely good it was just a bit rich for my taste so i couldnt finish it off in a sitting so thats a plus to have as a take home dessert. Manager also comped my dessert for their mistake. Very compassionate of him to do that and i would definitely recommend this place. Next time i will try the smoked wings for sure!

If you’re really hungry, you’re in the right place. True to what you’d expect from a barbecue joint, the portions are huge, and you’ll likely leave with the legendary “meat sweats.” The servings are generous to the point where you could probably share a single dish with someone else. Despite the abundance of meats on the menu, I opted for the salad—and even that was packed with meat! It was delicious but undeniably a portion that could have easily fed two people. We also ordered the wings, which were flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the cornbread muffins on the table were a nice touch—soft and sweet, just how I like them. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Our server was incredibly attentive, always checking in and making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. It was a level of service that left me genuinely impressed. If you’re in town, especially after visiting the nearby battlefield, this is the perfect spot to refuel. Just make sure you bring your appetite!

I never write reviews unless I am exceptionally impressed or exceptionally disappointed in my service. I just hosted a graduation party for my godson and he requested it to be catered by County Grill. I worked with Sydney and I cannot tell you the attention to detail she provided. She was very graceful and professional, a true leader! She exceeded my expectations and followed up right up to pickup time. I rarely get this type of service. When I picked up my order, the “to go” staff had everything bagged and ready to go right on time. Everyone at the party kept going on and on about how delicious the pork was, and how wonderful everything tasted. Everyone wanted to know where the food was from so they could order from them in the future. Many people will be asking for Sydney to handle their parties and events in the future! Way to go County Grill and their staff! We over ordered.. but there was practically nothing to put away. But even better than the food was the service.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I must say, they have an impressive selection of beers on tap. On my first visit, I tried their twisted tea, which was refreshing. I ordered the brisket and pulled chicken, accompanied by potato salad and mashed potatoes. While I enjoyed the brisket and chicken, I have to admit that the potato salad wasn't to my taste. My second visit, which was just last night, was even better. They served me cornbread that was quite delicious, and I decided to try the brisket tacos. They were fantastic—flavorful and satisfying. The tacos came with a side of nachos that were equally delectable. To complement my meal, I opted for a caramel apple cider beer, which was a delightful treat. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, making it a great place to unwind. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and will definitely be returning in the future!
