Straight Outta Philly — Restaurant in Virginia

We were traveling and tired.. looking for a place to eat that wasn't fast food..we are not at all familiar with Newport News so I think we got extremely lucky and I'm so happy that we found this place! We ate at Straight Outta Philly for dinner on Monday 12/13/21. I had the beef bacon Philly with mushrooms, onions and green peppers. And potato skins. And I have to say OH MY GOSH!!!! I was not expecting such delicious food and so much of it! They serve huge portions, which I love because when it's good food i like taking some home for later. The Philly was loaded with so much meat and toppings i almost chose to eat it with a fork!

And the potato skins were thick slices with melted cheese, bacon and jalapeño...so delicious! Those alone would have been a meal but the Philly looked great so I ate half of it too, and took the other half to go. (And I grabbed one of my husband's onion rings..they were excellent too!) I saw a few people in the kitchen and I don't know which one of them cooked my food, but whoever it was THANK YOU!!! It was amazing!!! And our waitress was wonderful too. Very sweet, kind and attentive. We will definitely be back to eat at Straight Outta Philly again. It is now officially one of my top 5 favorite...

Ordered a 12 in Philly got it said it looked real small . So I called asked for manager explained the situation and she laughed about it and said it has the same amount of neat that it was not a 10 inch amount of meat . I felt they charged me for 12 inch and gave me a 10 in . She offer me to bring it back and give me a refund and no food . She was going to leave me starving after hard work day That REALLY Got ME ! I work Really hard for my dollar and for a manager to laugh about a customer's complaints isn't toleratible in business. . She did try to blame the bread company bc they made it . I ve met the owner he's a great guy and I see him daily bc Im his neighbor bc 9ur businesses are close together. . Food was geat I won't going to take the hungry route 😋 ☺️☺️☺️I wish I had the Option to show a picture. If I was not laughed at I wouldn't have posted it!!! I got many years of restaurant experience Worked at Yorktown Pub for 7 years!!! If the baker would Gave smaller rolls. It was good, but not my kind of Philly Cheese Steak I like. There was too much meat. I know, I can't believe I actually wrote that! But seriously it was too much. It was also sliced so thin that it wasn't like shaved steak . . . More like minced steak or perhaps even further to the right on a blender. Like frappe' steak maybe. I don't know if I spelled that right since it was my parents blender, it was over 30 years ago, and I only hit that button once because it sounded like it was going to come apart, or at least leave the kitchen counter.

The point is the cheese to steak ratio was out of wack. I'll bet some folks love it though! Also, it's a nice place. Cool decor, clean, and all the napkin holders were stocked. I was going to rate it three but I just talked myself into giving it a four. I appreciate attention to detail and people who are passionate about there work. Passion is the only explanation for the amount of meat I got in...
