Update 6/11/24: Do not order sushi to go from here during dinner, you will wait well past the "25 minutes" the ordering system says it will take. I recently waited 50 minutes past the 25 minutes (75 total from order) to get food on Tuesday night. We thought it was a fluke the first time we ordered sushi to go and it took 60 minutes from order to food ready. They either need more sushi chefs or to update their ordering system to accurately reflect wait times. I will be ordering from Cafe Asia from now on as their food is always ready when they say it will be. Disappointing for a new restaurant with good food.
Original review: Finally a sushi restaurant in daleville! My wife and i have eaten sushi at a lot of places and we would rank Ichiban as one of the best local restaurant sushi we've had (especially on the East Coast). Our waitress Yasmin was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was family/kid friendly though probably also reasonable for date night. They did a great job renovating the restaurant from pizza Hut to a Japanese place. Dress is definitely casual. The prices of the sushi rolls was very reasonable and comparable to Cafe Asia 1/2. The prices are so reasonable that we will get takeout sushi from here instead of going to Kroger for sushi. The garlic edamame was great. My mom got the eggplant and even that was excellent (and i hate eggplant...). I didn't have any of the hibachi meals but they looked delicious. We will certainly be back soon! Try the American Dream roll, it was...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at the new Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse in Daleville, VA, left me thoroughly impressed. As part of a sizable party of 20, we were treated to impeccable service from start to finish.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted and efficiently seated, a feat in itself given our group's size. The ambiance was inviting, with a perfect blend of traditional Japanese decor and modern flair.
My recent visit to Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse in Daleville, VA, was a delightful surprise, particularly for vegetarians and vegans. Despite not having the traditional hibachi grill experience, the restaurant boasts an impressive array of meat-free options, making it a haven for plant-based diners.
Despite the absence of the hibachi grill spectacle, the service remained exceptional. Attentive staff members were knowledgeable about the menu's vegetarian and vegan offerings, offering recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience for our group.
What truly set Ichiban apart, however, was the stellar service. Despite the large party size, our servers were attentive, friendly, and efficient throughout the evening. From taking orders to refilling drinks and accommodating special requests, they handled everything with grace and...
Read moreWe love this type food and were happy to find one near our hotel. That was the ONLY excitement about this restaurant. People often say "the food was bad" but in the case of this place, it was HORRIBLE! And the service matched the food, HORRIBLE! I ordered filet, medium rare, with steamed rice and veggies. When it was first brought out there was fried rice with it. I asked if I could get the rice I ordered and the waitress did take it back. All that was done was the fried rice was scraped off and a clump of steamed rice replaced it. By the time I got it back of course it was cold, including the new clump of rice. I ordered medium rare and got meat cooked so long I could have used it for soles on my shoes. And the veggies were so salty I gave up on them quickly fearing iodine shock, lol. The waitress only came to the table once after we got our order and when I told her the food was HORRIBLE the reply was "we will try to do better". My wife only ordered veggies and she was only able to eat about 1/3 of them (see iodine shock comment from earlier). And we got this wonderful meal for only about $50. Needless to say, not only wouldn't I recommend this place to someone looking for a good meal, we didn't even want a to go bag to...
