Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Virginia

Have lived in the area for a year now. Had bad experiences and then good, but now very bad again (see posts below). They now have a person working there that has a criminal history. He is supposedly a "friend of the owner's family" who they say they forgive. He is in training to be a manager and is taking money and cards from customers. He has an extremely "Holier than thou" attitude. Very condescending and not justified at all. He is one of those rich kids who thinks he deserves to be excused and granted something because of his family and their friends. I will never trust him with my money/card and neither should you! Forgetting that, when he is working at night, Logan has gone back to the same way of thinking as Anthony (referenced below) has. The food is bad! Ice cold re-microwaved fries, tough, dry burgers and very bad, unjustified childish service. They have had a few very good managers leave recently - no wonder.

OK, I left the old, out-dated review below. At that time, I gave them 1 star ONLY because of one bad manager. I don't think he is there now. I heard he went somewhere else. I almost ALWAYS got bad food when he was working at night. I think he was really lazy and made a bunch of stuff to have ready for the last customers that came in 30 - 45 minutes before they closed. Probably cost them a lot of money in business. Recently, after several visits, they have been great! I am changing my rating to 5 stars. ALL of the GOOD managers and assistant managers are still there! They go out of their way to make sure the food is fresh and the service is friendly.

Worst DQ in SW Virginia. It is hit or miss. I recently moved near here (4 months ago) and have eaten at this place several times to give it a chance. There are a couple of managers that make sure everything is up to par, but when Anthony is working at night, the place, staff and food is a mess. I have called in and asked who it is after getting cold fries, dried, hard burgers and wrong orders several times. Every time the order is bad or wrong, Anthony has been the manager. I have called the offices and complained, was offered a free meal and didn't accept it - just wan't consistent, decent food. He is still there and nothing has changed. I now have to check and see who is working before I order and have to drive 15-20 minutes away if he is the manager that night. Worth the drive when...

Every time I go through the drive thru this young girl who has dirty blonde or brunette hair with French braids into a bun is always very rude. Maybe she is just having a bad day and hates her job but I don’t need to receive a bad attitude from her when I am being polite and respectful. First she is rushing my order (which I get because it’s fast food) but my problem is at the window when she speaks in a bad tone to tell me my total and then after that it’s just complete silence from her. She just hands me the food and bags with a bad attitude and then closes the window immediately without me knowing if it’s all or if I have to wait and then if I ask her she gets a bad attitude again. My food was wrong and the fries weren’t filled and too not make them angry or agitate them (because working in customer service is frustrating) I just decided to leave it at that but I did spend a lot of money and would have appreciated to receive the food that I paid for in a good manner. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a Dairy Queen I'm not a person to complain but this is ridiculous I ordered a medium mint shake extra mint they proceed to hand me a chocolate shake I hand it back and say that's not what I ordered she instantly gets mad and rolls her eyes and says I'll remake it she comes back and hands me a drink with nothing but syrup and says I guess this is what you wanted I took it and drove off because I don't do conflict plus I had my 3yr old with me. I paid 5$ for a drink I couldn't even drink because she acted asif I inconvenienced her when she originally messed my order up. I never not rude with her or anything. I'll never go back to dairy queen again. They should be ashamed to treat people that way. I've worked for a Dairy Queen before I also managed one. I would not have someone like that working for me.
