They have officially lost a customer after many years of coming here! First of all let me explain. My family and numerous people that I have recommended over the years have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time but the last trip prior to the one today was and should have been our last trip to this restaurant. I did not catch the waitresses name but her English was not very good and I thought it was just a communication barrier issue but apparently not because the manager ended up getting called to the table that didn't really explain much anything but took care of the issue on the bill that should have never been an issue from the start or wouldn't have been an issue let's say a year ago. With that being said we came back today to give them another shot and the hostess had to wait on us because the girl that sucked last time refused to serve us to him. I was perfectly fine with because she quite honestly was not very friendly nor professional nor had any idea what I was talking about as if she didn't understand a single word I was saying other than the basics and was very bad at keeping our drinks filled and I think she might have even came to the table less than three times in our group's time there . But let's get past that and get on to the real problem. Today the service with the gentleman was phenomenal and I left him a 20% tip as I do always if not more when people do me well and I had to look past this situation because it was not his fault but again we won't be returning so it won't be a problem again. Me personally I have always gotten the fried chimichangas chicken with half portion of rice and half portion of beans and of course the what they call salad which is nothing more than guacamole some shredded up lettuce and pico de gallo which I can do with to be honest used to be on top of the queso cheese that were on top of the chimichangas. The last time the lady tried to tell me that she could not give me a half portion of rice and a half portion of beans which had never been a problem up until recently because they are now calling their salad again keep in mind it's not much to it and most people typically don't eat it all if any of it at all or they eat it all and are happy with it but it should not be a side it always used to come on top of it not on the side replacing the side of rice or beans or the half portions of each as they always used to do in the past as every other Mexican restaurant in the area does and still does hence why we will be keeping our business at Mi Rodeo or Don Jose which is where we used to go anyways this restaurant is just typically closer but I'll go out of my way from now on. It's amazing that you can lose a customer for being so cheap and trying to make a salad that simply came on top of things before or if it wasn't adequate to go on top it would come on the side but not as a side because not everybody wants it. They're being extremely cheap about business although their prices have gone up although they are still Fair this is ridiculous and I'm sorry to say it but over your chancy salad and your $4 extra beans that I technically did not order today but you charged me for is crap and there's nothing anybody can say that's going to change my opinion at this point the employees make you feel unwelcome in the front other than the one gentleman that took care of us again was not his fault so I don't want him to be put in the middle of it. Most people with half a brain or common sense know what a half portion is. But for the morons that work here that do not that means I don't want a full serving of rice but I don't want a full serving of beans I want you to give me a half of what you would have given me in rice and a half of what you would have given me in beans which would be one serving which is what you'd still get even with the rip-off salad situation that used to automatically come with it not as a side and should not be offered as a side because it's not. Keep your side salad I'll go elsewhere that offers it as it used to be at...
Read moreMay 5th 2020 (Cinco de Mayo) was my first and VERY LAST time ever ordering from Don Pepe located in Chester, VA. I called to place an order at Don Pepe and paid for my order over the phone. After I hung up the phone I realized that the hostess that took my order did not ask for my name to put with my order. I immediately called back to give them my name, but when they answered the phone I noticed that they answered with “Don Pepe Chester VA”. When they said Chester, VA I realized that I had called and placed my order with the wrong Don Pepe location. I meant to place my order at Mr. Pepe which is located on Hull Street Road. Nonetheless, I asked the hostess is this the Don Pepe located on Hull Street? He said, no, this is Don Pepe located in Chester, VA. I said, oh my goodness, I placed my order at the wrong location. I meant to place my order at the Hull Street location. So at that point I asked the hostess for a refund. He said, No Refunds! I said, why? He said, we have already made your order. I said, hmm, that’s strange, how did you make an order in 2 minutes? That doesn’t make sense at all. And trust me I made a lengthy order that would require more than 2 minutes to prepare - unless they are working under unsanitary conditions. Moving on, I then proceeded to ask to speak to a manager. The manager got on the phone and was rude as hell. He echoed the same thing as the hostess did. No Refund! And then hung up on me. What happened to the customer is always right!?! I mean geez, it was a simple mistake of me calling the wrong location. I understand that we are all facing difficult times in our world, but the way that I was treated was absolutely ridiculous. I would have even settled with if the manger would had offered to give me half of my money back as refund but he didn’t even suggest that as an option. All that said, I have filed a report with the BBB and with my bank. I feel like Don Pepe stole money from me and that doesn’t sit well with me at all. Don Pepe located in Chester, VA is a restaurant that I will never give...
Read moreI’m on the hunt for good Mexican food, trying to find the go 2 spot for out here. So i chose this place because i seen it had like 1,500 reviews and nearly 5 stars. So the establishment is small and is shared in the same parking lot with a hotel. As I pulled in I was like wtf but I had already driven 20 mins out so decided to go with it. I didn’t have a bad experience, this is just to help that foodie like me wanting some good ass food trying to find their spot. So the food was mid at best, nothing to brag about. I don’t even think I would come back honestly. The food was lifeless meaning it had no flavor, had to put salt and pepper on everything. The pictures online made the place look like it was nice, don’t let it fool you. Place looked a little ghetto and table needed to be wiped down along with sticky drink menus. The service was great tho, I give them that. Our sever was awesome and very nice and made sure we was good. Like i said tho, the food was nothing special, not worth going back for. Nothing I’d tell my wife ohhh I gotta take you to this spot. Hopefully this...
