El Amanecer Latino Market and Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia

Wish there was an option to choose zero, I was FORCED to put one star when they most definitely deserve zero. Came here for the first time to have dinner and invited my mom and a friend. My food was good, my friend’s food too but my mom’s wasn’t. She ordered Yuca con Chicharron, the yuca was good but the Chicharron was hard and dry. So dry and hard that not even a rat could eat without chocking on it. We kindly told our server about it and said they will charge only the Yuca. Or we can change the entire plate but for extra. McDonald’s would change the entire meal for free if anything is wrong with it…. So yeah, we said we’ll keep the super hard and dry Chicharron, and they ‘said’ they wont charge it… as we were about to pay, I asked for a to go box, and as we were about to leave, she charged me full price cause their manager said to charge me full price because Im taking it home…horrible, awful. Won’t come here anymore, after they ‘adjusted’ the price but still was too much for what I’ve ordered. Horrible experience. On top of that, my friend put some things on the side she was going to purchase but some employee must have moved it. We asked if they seen a basket with things and they all said no. Sus much? This is an average restaurant/store. The store is congested but has a good variety of Latino products. I’m just starting to ‘shop’ Latino ingredients, so Jose is helpful and very friendly! The fried chicken breader he suggested was delicious! I haven’t gotten to ‘know’ the ladies in the restaurant but they are ‘cordial’. You could guess their interactions are limited (to taking your order) because they don’t speak a lot of English? IDK but they don’t engage - even when there is no one on the restaurant but me. Anyway, the most important thing you want to know is about the food (I guess). The food is …ok! I would say the tacos are good for a quickie when you’re hungry. I haven’t tried much else other than their cóctel de camarón and I have had better but it’s tolerable. Like I said…it’s tolerable. I will add one thing of importance…they have a SafeService award hanging up…but what’s up with the girls who wait tables, serve food, handle money and brooms and dishrags making ‘whatever’ without gloves. They keep placing the dish they use back in the ‘pot’ and it’s floating their hand germs in pot…going back and forth doing things…this is not...
