I can't rate this place a five star cause I've only had one dish from there, considering it is a kabob house and a Latino restaurant. The dish I had, was the boneless chicken kabob with chick peas oj the side. I will say I wasn't pleased with this experience. I didn't have any issues with the staff but the food was the problem.
I don't ever complain about food cause I love it so much and I'm thankful to be able to eat anytime I want considering there are many people who don't. I will give you my two cents on this experience so maybe it can save you the hassle.
I'm a huge fan of kabobs. I love a dish with meat, rice, small salad and bread. I'm actually on a mission to try every kabob restaurant in northern VA or at least the bigger known ones, mainly in falls church, Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria. so far I've been to four, the kabob village, kabob palace in crystal city (Arlington), Ravi kabob (Arlington) and bread and kabob (baileys crossroads -falls church). So far I think kabob palace and Ravi kabob are the best so far, but kabob palace is tops all cause they're 24-7.
Now to what my purpose was. So I walk in, and I get greeted by the guy at the counter nicely. He takes my order, I order a boneless chicken kabob with chick peas on the side. It cost me $9.40 after tax, which isn't that bad, normal rate around town $10 bucks for a chicken kabob. He tells me ten minutes which it took ten minutes. I get my food to go and decide to eat it in my car.
I open it up, the portioning was on point. The whole container was filled with food to the point that the only white I saw of the container was the edges of the bottom part holding the food and the lid. The chicken pieces were pretty good size, nice and big. Everything looked good. So I dove in and ate.
Now this is the issue I had. The rice was cold, the chick peas, were hard and cold. I'm not talking fridge cold or room temperature but they were everything but hot. I'm sorry I like my food hot. The nan (bread) was pretty good. It was hot. The chutney (green sauce) was not chutney you'd get at a usual kabob place. considering this place is a kabob and Latin restaurant, the green sauce is that spicy jalapeño sauce that most Latin dishes come with. I still used it on top of everything and it gave it some spice. the salad was pretty good cause they threw some dressing on it and it had cilantro in it. the chicken pieces weren't the greatest. they were dry and didn't really have much flavor to them.
So overall this dish was not the greatest. I still ate it all cause I'm not gonna throw it away and I'm not the type to complain about food and go back in and make a big scene, but I will share my experience on here. I'm sure this place has good food cause they've been around for a while. I will return to try another dish, from the Latin side, maybe a carne asada and some pupusas. but I will not be getting kabob from them, and I don't recommend anybody to get the kabobs from them. I recommend kabob palace in crystal city. there whole dishes are hot and fresh, meat is full of flavor and it comes with actual chutney, the nan is good and the portions are amazing for about the same price as here, maybe a...
Read moreLocally owned restaurant. Not much to look at inside, but the food is EXCELLENT! The Kebabs are really amazing and the fresh bread is baked in a huge oven. Everything is fresh and I like the menu. There are 50% mexican dishes and 50% middle eastern. The owner and his son are really friendly. I think they have karaoke or something (there's a disco ball), but I always do carry-out. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, the food is AWESOME. Plus I like supporting good, customer friendly, local stores and this...
Read moreNot a place for kabobs anymore. When we went in, they only offered a very limited selection of Latin dishes and none of them included kabobs at all. They were playing Latin music that was extremely loud and didn’t offer any explanation as to why they weren’t serving what the place is supposed to feature. So if you enjoy very loud Latin music and fewer options for food than most bars would offer, then its perfect, otherwise I suggest going elsewhere. Two...
