Ordered for takeout two nights in a row. Ordered calamari, pizza and wings the first night and then did an order of bruschetta, calamari, wings and a family pack of baked ziti. For the price of the larger order ($78), it was a great amount of food and everything was freaking delicious!
The bruschetta was light and refreshing with the basil adding a lovely fragrance. The calamari and wings were fresh and delicious and the baked ziti was absolutely divine. A major issue I've noticed in Italian restaurants in the area is that their baked pasta dishes are often overcooked and mushy but the ziti was perfectly al dente and the sauce wasnt too acidic which were a major pluses for my food critic wife. The pizza from the night before was perfectly done and even as a plain cheese, it tasted rich and sumptuous. The pizza is what every pizza should be like!
All in all, 5 out of 5 stars. Yes the price is a lot but the amount of food you get and the quality of it is well worth the price. Probably the best restaurant for Italian in the West...
Read moreNEVER AGAIN! We've been to Frank's perhaps a dozen times in the past 7 years. Each time I wonder why we paid the premium over what a "pizza joint" should cost. We kept going back because they're close, their food is okay and service is good (normally), but after tonight, never again. We went with our 4 & 6 year old and sat at the bar waiting for a table. They quoted 10 minutes but it was 30 before we sat down. After ordering, it was 45 minutes to get a pizza, 2 specials and 1 pasta dish. The bill was $110! After 40 minutes I suggested to the owner that they should really start offering a glass of wine to those customers who were waiting (at least 3 tables had ridiculous waits for pizza). Nothing. Not even offering to comp the $13 pizza on a $110 bill. In fairness they did offer a free dessert, but after 9pm our kids could not handle any more. No more chances for Frank's West....
Read moreTHE GOOD: I ate lunch here and selected linguini w/mushroom sauce from the lunch menu; it was priced at a very reasonable $15 per plate, and it was a large serving. The linguini was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce was plentiful and tasted lovely. The entrée was accompanied by a small side salad, which was adequate, and a very delicious mini loaf of bread, which was served warm and was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service throughout the entire experience was very good.
THE NOT-SO-GOOD: My only disappointment, and it was a BIG one, was the tiramisu that I ordered for dessert. It cost a shocking $9 and was the WORST tiramisu I have ever eaten. The experience of eating it was like reading a bad book that you continue to read, hoping that it will get better as you get further into it, but it never does. I wish I had sent it back after...
