Ginger Juice — Restaurant in Virginia

• Review for Short Pump location * Today was my first visit, and my last. I have severe food allergies and made sure upon ordering that my Greens Galore smoothie would not have pineapple. I also watched the kitchen staff rinsing the blender jars thoroughly in the kitchen before ordering. A tiny bit of cross contamination doesn't set off a reaction for me, I actually have to ingest the ingredient; therefore, I thought everything was good. Upon being called to the window (after waiting 10-15 for one smoothie), I asked once again "this does not have pineapple, correct?" And as per usual with people who have no clue how serious food allergies are, I got blown off with a simple "yes." I'm only a few sips into the smoothie and my throat is already tingling and the last of only a few sips contained a chunk of pineapple. I spit it out in my hand to be 100% sure that's what it was - without a doubt, it was pineapple! I immediately dived into my Benadryl stash so I could avoid having to use my $700 epi pens (which is the case if I don't treat with Benadryl immediately). I then called the store for what was one of the most poorly handled customer service calls I've ever made. I was basically given a simple I'm sorry and they confirmed they heard me ask several times whether the smoothie had pineapple. I then recommended they have a meeting addressing the severity and seriousness of food allergies. I was told they have meetings "every 2 weeks" and they'd discuss at their next meeting. At this point, I'm livid. NO, a conversation about food allergies CAN NOT wait 2 weeks. It needs to happen asap! I explained that lucky for me, I know how to control mine but in the future, the negligence could actually kill someone. I was asked at the end if there was something they could do to make the situation "more better." For starters, I would like a refund for my $7 smoothie that could have killed me. I love local businesses and always do my best to support them but I draw the line with awful customer service,...

I did a google search of places that serves smoothie bowls and this place came up. I decided to stop by and give it a try. I spoke with one of the girls at the counter and asked for recommendations on a smoothie bowl because I haven't had one before. She recommended the dragon fruit bowl. I placed my order. I sat down on a little chair with a small short round table big enough to hold a laptop. As I sat there I noticed all the tables with filled with college students doing homework, no one was buying anything or eating..but all the tables were occupied with people doing homework. I politely went to the server and asked did they have extra table where I could sit and eat my food. She pointed to the little chair I was sitting on earlier. I then asked to speak to the manager Cayanne who was EXTREMELY rude to me, basically barked at me versus speaking to me professionally. I never raised my voice with her or spoke down to her, yet she talked down to me as if I had no business in there. As I walked away from her, she said in a very condescending tone, " you have the nerve to have these kinds of unrealistic expectation in a busy establishment." I was shocked when she said that. I turned around and glance at her then continued to walk out. I was beyond shocked that a manager would speak to a customer like that. Especially when I was very polite. Since lockdown my wife has ordered for pickup a few times from Ginger Juice. They have been quick, friendly, health conscious, and professional. Our orders have been correct and tasted great! I'm leaving my old review so that the owner's response has context and to also show that they were aware of issues they were having and took steps to resolve them. Customer experience is important and their care for customers is exemplary.

Pre "owner-response" review: Good food but unfortunately this is the absolute slowest service for trivially simple dishes. With only two people sitting in the restaurant it took over 30 minutes last time to get a parfait. On one occasion we received the wrong order but it was such a long wait already we didn't even bother to say something. And this is par for the course every time I've been here. It's so frustrating that it ruins...
