IHOP — Restaurant in Virginia

Came in this IHOP at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday October 20th with friends from church it came in and was greeted by the gentleman Oliver which is always extremely nice been there for at least 15 if not more years that I can remember always tries to see this with a good server and a decent table this gentleman goes well over and Beyond what he should have to do other job he thought he took care of us seating us with a server that was good but the server by his name Walter I would never ever recommend this guy to anyone first time having him will be the last I would never sit down at the table with this guy again and I hope I never see him in this restaurant again give it was seven of us all adults we all want a coffee except for one he wanted his milkshakes specifically asked for two of the coffees they have milk instead of half and half for cream he was confused with that don't know why one decaf the rest regular I asked him knowing that they do not have a hot pot to sit on the table and they keep coffee freshen anymore or so they say if they could bring two to go cups full of hot coffee so we did not have to bother him or wait on him to have refills considering four of us at the table how heavy coffee drinkers he responded I said I don't understand okay when he came back with the coffee I explained to him again before he could go and get us cream that he forgot for our coffee and asked for some extra Splenda he immediately said well let me take your order first before we can even start drinking coffee while I sitting on the table and getting cold he demanded to take our order instead of trying to get us a coffee which I wanted coffee and so did two other ones before we started even thinking about what to order but no we went ahead and ordered remember we ordered our food about 10 minutes after being there which is about 8:45 so so about 20 minutes go by we have yet to receive our cream or milk for the coffees or refills which I asked for nor did we receive extra napkins or the milkshake that was ordered so I got up and I went to ask and the assistant manager did not remember his name he was in a burgundy color shirt that day explain to him have we asked for some extra cups of coffee on the table so we could just fill our own cups up he said not a problem I'll have them done he told the waiter and I heard him tell him again his name Walter to bring him out and never did he came out with a pot of coffee and throw it a little rinky dinky cups up with coffee and forgot to cream so the gentleman Oliver seen that he came over and said I'll get your cream and milk for you guys thank you Oliver great guy well they went by 8:40 comes we watch people come in the restaurant before us that was already seated and people come in the restaurant the same time already received their food have already eaten and is paying we have yet to receive our food 9:30 9:45 after I got up and said something I asked for Steve the manager they said he's too busy he can't come out and talk to a customer about that time here comes our food who comes out man we were all starving we all went ahead and ate after asking for stuff that was missing that was supposed to come with our food as in the salsa for the tacos the jalapenos That was supposed to come with the burritos the sour cream that was supposed to come with the burritos then we had to ask for the extra milkshake that was already supposed to be made 30 minutes ago then we had to request the five glasses of water that we asked for at the beginning when he demanded to take our order instead of getting our drinks which he never got all Waters never did receive our butter to go into pancakes and end up eating some dry ass pancakes that's real good at IHOP known for the nice pancakes but dry when the bill came we had a reward that was cashed in that wanted to be used but he said they can't be if the combination with the milkshake buy one get one for you you have to use one or the other lol never heard of that so I said okay no worries I'll go talk to the manager he's just...

New Review (2024)

I am going to preface this by saying that our server was very nice and much more attentive than the last time I was here. He is the only reason that this is not a 1-star review. The food, once it finally came, was ok. Nothing great.

That said, I removed a star from my previous review, and we won't be back. When we walked in, we waited a few minutes to be greeted and seated, not because they were busy, but because there was no hostess. Once being sat, every single booth was dirty. The place was trashed.

When ordering, three of the items that I ordered were out, and I had to keep reordering my food over and over. I was given an "early bird" menu that had discounted items. I chose an appetizer and an entrée from it with the intent to take advantage of the advertised free kids meal for my son with the purchase of an entrée. We also ordered two milkshakes.

My son's food was ordered first, along with the milkshakes and appetizer. My food had to be reordered two different times, because they would not honor the early bird menu and the kid's eat free together, and then they didn't have what I ordered. Ultimately, it all took forever, we never got the appetizer, and my son's food and the milkshakes were last to come. My food was incorrect and cold once it did arrive, and they offered to remake the part that was wrong, but all they did was throw some butter on the same food and reheat it.

I simply do not recommend this location. For the cost, you can get a better meal literally anywhere.

The store was spacious and clean with plenty of seating. Our server was friendly and accommodating, if a little forgetful. There were long gaps of time where we did not see him. The food was good enough, but...

Absolutely disgusted and disturbed by our visit tonight.

We came in as a family around 7 PM. Don't know our waiter's name so all i can do is a description. Our waiter, tall, dirty blond hair, seated us and took our order. Everything seemed normal until about 10 minutes in, when we noticed something floating in our 9-year-old's water. It was a semi-clear, gooey glob suspended midway in the glass. I fished it out with a straw, and it had a sticky, mucus-like consistency.

At that point, we inspected everyone's drinks and found another one in a second cup. Unfortunately, I had already drunk half of mine before noticing. I flagged down a random waiter and asked to speak with the manager… only to discover the "manager" was our waiter. That didn’t inspire much confidence.

I showed him the glob on the straw. His reaction? He grabbed the three cups and said, “We’ll burn the ice and get you new water.” I told him, “That’s not ice, that’s gooey!” He looked at it again and just shrugged: “I don’t know what that is.”

When I said, “It’s like mucus,” he still just repeated, “I don’t know what that is. I’ll burn the ice now,” with a completely dismissive attitude.

That was it for us, we got up and left. No apology. No urgency. No concern. Just a wave goodbye like we were an inconvenience.

We left feeling sick to our stomachs, completely shaken, and honestly horrified. This wasn’t just bad service, it was unsanitary, unsafe, and shockingly unprofessional.

IHOP Corporate needs to look into this location immediately. This...
