If I could give it a negative zero star I would. I have gone to IHOP for over 20 years throughout the United States. Nevertheless, when I became a Veteran a few years ago, I visited the IHOP in Washington State and haven't gone back for free pancakes on Veteran' s Day. I always loved their food. I moved to Virginia last year. I went to the IHOP in Lorton for the first time and compared it to the one where I live, which is less than a ten minute drive away. So I drove a few times this year to visit this IHOP that is ten minutes away. As far as the Lorton location... I went there last night to find out, if they were serving free pancakes and the manager told me, that it would be served the next day. I have worked the past few years on every Veteran's Day at my previous places of employment and did not go since 2014 to get free pancakes. I also don't mind tipping well, because I used to be a server as a young girl, while in school and used to go to work after class.. Well, there was a server by the name Maria. I thought, that she was really nice and my fiance and I are of course Veterans. She asked for the IDs, but specifically for mine and refused to look at my fiance's ID, but was scanning down mine. Is a Veteran supposed to look a certain way or be a certain race or gender? Well, I'm not Hispanic, some mistaken me for one, but I'm Eurasian and also speak several languages and have an accent. Still, I was a Non-Comissioned Officer in the United States Army and served with all my heart and soul. This person who works at this IHOP by the name Maria: I was racially profiled by her ! What a shame, how terrible is this, that you segregate a female Veteran and judge them by their diversity and ignore the male Veteran's request by refusing to see his identification! So she left and my fiance was surprised that this happened, but I was getting pretty upset. When she came back with our food, she emphasized it and told directly to me that the red, white and blue pancakes represented the American Flag! What is this!? Am I stupid or what !? I told her, that I know that. I have saluted and folded the flag while having served in uniform, hot, cold, clean, dirty, tired, thirsty, hungry, or when my brothers died. I thought it was a great gesture at the entrance to put in the missing chair, because it reminded me of the horseless rider with the caisson during the funeral processions that I had seen throughout the day when I used to work at the Arlington National Cemetery. Well, that gesture lost it's value after the treatment that I have received from a total stranger. The irony of all of this is, after she " explained" me the red, white and blue- that I'm actually a Graphic (T-Shirt)Designer and my fiance was wearing a T-shirt that I designed for Veteran's Day and I had printed it out the day before, which depicted a clipping mask of his Army Boots of our American Flag. So if you want to hire people who racially profile and insult female and disabled Veterans, then go ahead visit this IHOP on Veteran's Day! I know for sure, that this place is off my list of ever coming back in the future and spending a penny at this restaurant ! I'm beyond disappointed, I'm quite disgusted. Ignorance is alive ! I rather pay for my meal rather than to be treated like that. We still tipped that sorry waitress five dollars... because we thought of her taking care of her family. Update: It's almost the 4th of July and still remember the disgusting waitress at that IHOP. I was literally discriminated and racially profiled by Maria- she shoulbe working at a place, dealing with Vets and Military People, Fort Belvoir is just a few minutes down the street. She's a disgrace of a citizen treating a woman in such evil manner and to all other women, who serve and have served in the...
Read moreOn December 12 at approximately 5:17 PM, I had a deeply disappointing experience at the IHOP in Gunston Plaza, Lorton. My elderly mother and I were in the process of placing an online order for pickup as we entered the restaurant. My mother, urgently needed to use the restroom. The manager prevented my mom from heading to the restroom and despite my mom’s explanation to the manager that we were placing an order for pickup, the manager refused her access to the restroom.
When my mother asked the manager to speak with me directly, she quickly went to the bathroom. I then overheard the waiter comment to the manager that my mother was “annoying,” to which the manager responded, “very much so.” I was shocked and hurt by this exchange, especially given my mother’s age and medical condition.
I approached the manager and apologized for the situation, explaining that my mother has a weak bladder due to her age. However, the manager continued to threaten that she could refuse service to both my mother and me simply because my mother desperately had asked her to speak with me and quickly ran to the restroom.
It felt as though the manager was eager to create a conflict, and unfortunately, we were there during what seemed to be a particularly bad moment for her.
This incident was deeply humiliating and disappointing. I am so sad because I have been going to this IHOP since I was a little kid because we have a family business nearby. Now after that humiliating incident I will have to say goodbye to that particular...

Manager greeted us, sat us, conversed with us, and was genuinely nice. But that was end of seeing him. Was told waitress would be right with us, and there was only 4 tables occupied during our visit.
Took about 10-15min for waitress to get our drink order and another 15-20 min to bring out. The blue drink was supposed to have blueberries and didn’t, thinking, ok they May been out.
Waitress took order and the food came out way too long for not being busy. Didn’t have butter on pancakes either.
Asked for a refill of original lemonades (pointing to my glass and my daughters who had original lemonade) and didn’t receive them for another 10-15 min. But they were the wrong drinks; which were not free refills and were probably charged for them. I asked for receipt and to go boxes cause service was so slow and baby was fussy. Got boxes but no receipt. I ended up having to walk up to hostess desk twice before the only waitress working finally came and closed the bill. Didn’t give me itemized receipt just told me my total and had me run my card myself. Waitress seemed to have an attitude problem and seemed like she didn’t want to be at work and that we were all just an inconvenience. Still tipped he left slight of 10% but honestly didn’t even deserve any as she didn’t check on us and service was slow would never go there on a Tuesday again, maybe never period. Would rather travel to Woodbridge where I had an amazing experience...
