2nd time is a charm... Not really. My husband and I visited the restaurant about a year and a half ago and it was awful with horrible service. We visited last night thinking it HAD to be better than the last visit. BOY WERE WE WRONG! At 5:22pm we were greeted at the hostess stand and was informed of the 30 minute wait. (completely fine since Santa is in town and it's Christmas time, totally understandable.) We walked around Bass Pro and saw all the things and came back at 6:00pm to no one at the hostess stand so we stood and waited. 6:08pm we were greeted and taken to our booth, upon the walk there all I could notice was how DISGUSTING the floors were as well as there were not enough people in the restaurant to warrant a 30 minute wait to begin with. There were napkins, food and straw wrappers all over the place. Don't get me started on the nasty things under the booth. We were told that our waitress would be over in just a minute to get our drink order. 6:25pm We now have a waitress and she is taking our entire order which consisted of: 2 cokes, 1 childs coke, 1 childs sweet tea, A boneless wing appetizer, 2 fish and chips meals, a caesar salad, a house salad, a basket of fries and 2 kids cheeseburger meals (one with fries and one with oranges). 6:35pm Our waitress arrives with our drinks 2 cokes and 2 waters... then says she really couldn't remember what the kids drinks were because she wrote them down on a receipt and it "blew away". So she comes back FINALLY with their correct drinks and our appetizer which was cold, room temperature cold. We attempted to eat that. 7:00pm our salads arrive with bar napkins (the little drink napkins) because they "ran out" of actual napkins so the waitress leaves a 4 inch stack of bar napkins on the middle of our table. Our waitress was also carrying 4 to-go drinks on her tray and as she was grabbing our salads she dumped an entire drink on the floor and said "yeah, I'm really not going to worry about that right now" (THE RESTAURANT IS NOT BUSY). The salads were pathetic and wilted. 7:30pm OUR DINNER HAS ARRIVED... We were told they "ran out" of french fries so she took it upon herself to give us onion rings instead. I TRULY wish I could post the pictures I took because to grasp how disgusting and greasy everything was you would have to see it. Everything looked as it had taken a grease bath and just sat on a plate for the last hour. It was rubbery, dry and cold to the touch. Our 2 kids cheeseburgers were WAY to small for the bun that they were on. My husband and I really wanted to speak to the manager because all of this was ridiculous but the M.O.D was walking around with his shirt unbuttoned and chest hairs flying all about (not very sanitary) acting like he was too busy. Nothing about this man screamed "I'm the manager". None of us touched our food. We asked for the check, paid $57.00 for nasty, cold and rubbery food that we didn't eat and left. These people work in customer service and the food industry. They should at least act and dress like it. Bass pro's restaurant really needs to get it together because after reading some of these other reviews we aren't the only ones who have had a horrible experience, I just wish I would have read the reviews before sitting down at...
Read moreMy husband and I have eaten at this establishment on several occasions. We try to eat there 3 or 4 times a year - usually on special occasions (anniversary, birthdays, etc.). Yesterday, we ate there for my birthday and it was very disappointing.
We were there during the lunch service and I will say the food was mediocre at best. Our bill came to almost $60 with tip (and we would have tipped the server more, but the only thing she brought back with our change was $10s and $1s and we were not about to give her the equivalent of a 25 - 30% tip. And, of course, we couldn't get anyone's attention to give us adequate change so we could leave her 20% to which is our norm.)
We both got the Maple Glazed Salmon which came with "fresh" vegetables and wild rice. Well, the salmon was very good. I have to give them that. But, the "fresh" vegetables were cooked to the point of being mushy and the wild rice was overcooked to the point of being unrecognizable. More wild mush than wild rice. And the fact that it was $17.95 (not $15.95 as listed on the online menu) made it even more disappointing. I also requested water to accompany my meal (I also ordered coffee - not looking to cut the cost of the bill by getting just water) and the water tasted so strongly of chlorine, I couldn't even drink it. It was if though I had dipped a glass in a swimming pool.
We have been eating there ever since the place opened and have noticed the quality of the food has declined while the prices have gone up and the serving sizes have gotten smaller - from the size of the servings of the side dishes to the size of the bread appetizer. My husband requested french fries in place of the "fresh" vegetables and wild rice with his lunch (because he doesn't like wild rice or squash and zucchini) and the portion size was so small it was embarrassing. We counted about 10 fries.
I will say the server was very nice and went out of her way to brew me some "double brewed" coffee so I wouldn't get coffee that tasted like colored water. But, I did have a problem with the way she called me "sweetie". I'm sorry. I know it is a Southern thing as I have lived in the south my entire life and consider myself a good Southern girl. But, one does not call someone "sweetie" unless you know them personally or have been invited to be so familiar. I just don't think that it is very courteous. Not to mention, I believe I was older than her. Very disrespectful and unprofessional.
I think we will think long and hard...
Read moreWhile in town, my boyfriend and myself decided to stop and eat after shopping at Bass Pro. We were initially put on a text waiting list and said we would receive a text notifying us of an available table (we were told 25 minute wait). After 30-35 minute wait, and seeing multiple different parties being seated without a wait, we decided to speak to the hostess about our table. The hostess seemed completely lost on how to greet patrons, dressed poorly, and no on the job training with hosting. We explained that we were on a waiting list and it had been X amount of time and was checking on the wait. She then sat us down at a booth in a corner. Looking around, it seemed to be 3 servers waiting on 3-5 tables each. While looking around at the inside of the restaurant, being it was my first time eating there.. and last… it was very outdated and depressing. After waiting 20 minutes we were greeted by our server who was very robotic and ordered 2 waters with the mussels as an appetizer. After waiting another 15 minutes and dying of dehydration..we received our drinks on a tray with another parties used dishes on. Another 15 odd minutes passed and was brought out our cold appetizer that was nothing to brag about but not horrible. We placed our order for the main course and it was finally delivered after 40 minutes. The food was adequately warm, and average, comparable to an Applebees with a 3/5 stars. After completely finishing our meals and waiting another 10 minutes, our server finally stops to check on us and at this point we were over our experience. After waiting another 15-20 and both our waters being emptied that was never refilled, I had to walk across the restaurant to ask for our check, paid, and left with a bitter taste in our mouth due to our experience. While we were waiting 15+ minutes to be initially greeted by our server, another family sat beside us that saw our disgruntled faces and asked if we were still waiting to be greeted to which we said yes for over 15 minutes… At that time they decided they would save themselves the trouble like we should have done and left. I am not one to complain or write horrible reviews as I was server for over 3 years but this is...
