Normally, I’m a fan of both Joe’s Inn and Joe’s Out in Bon Air — they’ve long been reliable neighborhood staples. However, my most recent visit to Joe’s Out left me genuinely disappointed.
I ordered a cheesesteak and explicitly requested no tomato and no mayo. What I received instead was a sandwich slathered with mayo and included tomato. While I understand mistakes happen, I returned the sandwich and asked for a corrected version, Driving back to Joe's from my home. Unfortunately, the replacement raised additional concerns. Compared to the original, the size disparity was almost comical — think Gilligan and the Skipper.
With Duke’s Mayo currently running it's Hot Tomato Summer, but customers should never have to double down to avoid unwanted ingredients, especially when requests are clear.
Out of curiosity and hunger, I went across the street to Jersey Mike’s and purchased a Regular Cheesesteak, the difference in quality and portion was clear. Photos included for comparison. An offer of a dessert item was accepted, I thank Joe's for that but by the time I was able to return back home, original order 5PM final home return 6:35, the appetizer ordered was cold.
Joe’s Out usually delivers solid food and service, but this experience missed the mark on accuracy, portion consistency, and recovery.
