Just Baked Bakery — Restaurant in Virginia

I showed up around 9:00a on a Sunday (early Sep. 2024) and got some cinnamon rolls that had just come out of the oven -- still warm/hot -- and they were good. Not mind blowing, but tasty. Would recommend.

The problem? They were my only option! Literally -- and I mean literally -- the only other things I could have bought without waiting around for 15-30 minutes were a few loaves of wheat bread. The shelves and display were otherwise completely bare. That's "bare" as in "not ready" as opposed to "sold out". It was head-scratching, since I drove ~20 minutes out of my way to check this place out because of all these five-star reviews.

Hopefully this was just an anomaly, or growing pains that they'll work through over the next few months. If I go back and have an update, I'll update...

Had high hopes for this place but still a couple hours before close, they literally only had 2 items from which to choose. The whole bread wall behind 3 staff standing there was empty and we even asked like when is a better time to come back when you have things to buy. No one seemed like it was unusual for everything to be empty and were told “he makes everything himself’ and “you can wait 10 minutes for a few cinnamon rolls coming out”. We got one of each of the only things available - Nutella pastry & cheese danish. Both were amazing but not what I would’ve ordered had there been any selection from which to choose. Might try one more time, hoping for some kind of variety. I think the owners dog was in the back baking area and didn't realize that was allowed in food...

An out of control and unleashed dog charged out of this business at me as I was taking my dog to the vet hospital next door, frightening my dog. Thankfully my dog is not reactive, or it could have been a very bad situation. There's a sign in the window with a photo of the dog claiming that it's a "service dog on premises", but the dog's behavior makes that quite difficult to believe. If it is truly a service dog, then the owner should be taking measures to ensure it can't run out of the business, especially given that they are next door to a vet and there's a pet grooming salon nearby as well.

One can only hope the owner's recklessness and disrespect for their community does not extend to their kitchen. Personally, I will not be giving them any of my money...
