Katana is an absolute gem for sushi lovers and an experience that transcends the ordinary. From the moment you walk in, the elegant ambiance sets the tone for a refined yet welcoming dining experience. The modern decor, soft lighting, and impeccably designed seating make it ideal for a date night, a celebration, or simply indulging in some of the best sushi around.
The sushi itself is a masterpiece. Every piece is crafted with precision, showcasing the freshest fish and perfectly seasoned rice. Their signature rolls burst with flavor, balancing textures and tastes flawlessly. The sashimi is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the nigiri selection is thoughtfully curated to highlight seasonal offerings. For those seeking a more immersive experience, the chef’s omakase is a must — a culinary journey that celebrates the artistry of Japanese cuisine.
Beyond the sushi, Katana offers a delightful array of small plates, from crispy tempura to savory miso-glazed dishes. The sake selection is extensive, providing the perfect pairing for any meal. And the service? Impeccable. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate, enhancing the entire dining experience.
Katana is more than a restaurant — it’s a celebration of flavor and craftsmanship. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or new to Japanese cuisine, this spot will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. Highly...
Read moreI really wish that I left Kata Sushi with more than a feeling of dissatisfaction because most of the ordered items were good, but when a restaurant responds to a concern about an entree being too sweet (when it was not listed as being sweet on the menu) by asking if hot sauce is wanted to cover the sweet flavor, then something is wrong. The decor and ambience is peaceful, romantic, and exotically places you away from Midlothian. The service was super polite, responsive, and accommodating. Our waitress communicated with us about the preparation times (and differences between sushi bar prepared items and kitchen prepared items) and she also kept our drinks filled as well as checked in periodically. The complementarity appetizers (edemame and a fried cream cheese and scallion wonton) were a tasty gesture while we waited for other courses. The vegetable gyoza, the salad, the sushi and the bento box were all fresh and tasty. I now understand that in future visits that the chicken yaki soba can be ordered not as sweet, but I sure wish I knew this from the menu before our first visit. At this point I go home hungry after eating about 15% of an entree and am not sure there will be future visits, let alone future orders of yaki soba ordered to be...
Read moreI’ll start this review off by saying that I don’t like sushi. Every time I’ve eaten it I’ve just never had a pleasurable experience. My boyfriend absolutely loves it so I figured we would stop by here on our next date night based on all of the positive reviews.
I came here with the intention of ordering one of the teriyaki dishes but changed my mind last minute and ordered 3 rolls of sushi while my boyfriend got a sushi & sashimi combo. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! We ordered katana balls as an appetizer which were brought out promptly, the soup and salad were great and had an appropriate portion size, and you can tell all of their ingredients are super fresh.
Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the quality and amount of food we received for the price. The staff was super polite and patient, you can tell they genuinely care about taking care of their guests. It was super quiet and peaceful when we went which I enjoyed considering it was a Friday night, had we gone anywhere else it would’ve been loud, crowded, with long waits. The only negative thing I have to say is that now I’m constantly craving more sushi!
If you’re debating on whether or not you should go here, just do it you...
