We recently discovered a wonderful evening out for the whole family at Unplugged Games Cafe in Midlothian. Our 4-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and to our delight, so did we.
The cafe boasts an impressive selection of games, far more than we anticipated. The staff were very helpful, patiently explaining rules and making us feel welcome throughout our visit.
One pleasant surprise was the menu. It offered a variety of healthy options that appealed to both adults and children - always a win in my book. The food quality was noticeably good for a game cafe.
The atmosphere struck a nice balance - comfortable enough for families yet with a touch of excitement from all the gaming activity. At $8 per adult for unlimited gameplay (and children 12 and under play for free), it's quite reasonable. In fact, we managed to enjoy a full evening out, including dinner, dessert, and tea, all for under $100.
Our children are eager to return, and we're looking forward to our next visit as well. If you're in the Midlothian area and seeking a unique family activity, Unplugged Games Cafe is well worth considering. It's quickly becoming a favorite spot for our family game...
Read moreYou want to try out that board game before you buy? Well come on over to Unplugged. It is the most awesome-est place if you're a board gamer. It's $8 a person with kids under 13(about) free and they have shelves upon book cases filled with all kinds of games. They have card games (Uno anyone?) To regular board games (Monopoly) to strategy games. Games for All Ages and All Skill levels. This may be THE date night going into 2022. Now... why 4 stars and not 5 if it's SO awesome? The food. The food isn't terrible. The portion is NOT worth the price. The cheeseburger isn't a horrid size....not big enough...but not horrid. Instead of fries... they give you popcorn..and that's only a handful. The salad ($9) is basically 3 romaine lettuce leaves with some wierd but tasty tomatoes and some cut up chicken nuggets. It was served on what looked like a 5x3 cookie pan. So imagine the portion.... We walked out paying A LOT for food that left us hungry if not substituted with several more appetizers. Besides the food, it was a wonderful atmosphere and I would come back JUST to play more games. Staff is...
Read moreWent with a number of friends from work and man, this place is a gem! Normally you get a fun place with fair food, or a fair place with good food but Unplugged wins on both sides. The game library is prodigious and well organized. The staff made game recommendations based on group size and how long you might want to play (quick round or hours to spare) and we’re more than willing to quickly explain the rules so we didn’t have to slog through the booklets. We ordered more food than anyone probably should have and they were quick and courteous. We had the popcorn (very nice and fresh), pretzel bites with cheese (easily addictive), I had their Unplugged burger (which was both huge and delicious!), friends had their wraps/salads/chicken tenders and gave them high praise, and for dessert we split their chocolate cookie dip which was decadent and great for splitting with friends. The building was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. We weren’t even through the appetizers before we were plotting who to bring next. We will be back soon and...
