Mehran Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia

Had been here for takeout thrice which had been always good with respect to food . Once had ordered via grubhub and they missed sending garlic naan ( for which I was charged) . Contacted restaurant and their reply was they will adjust it next time . How in the world they will know and keep a track of it next time ? :D

But now after the experience of buffet twice , I have changed my mind. Had been today for dinner buffet which was not good. The service was good though. The interiors are very mediocre. Regards to the buffet, For chicken , they had only two dishes , chicken haleem ( which was only good) and chicken curry ( this had very big pieces of chicken which was not flavorful ) Apart from that , there were two beef dishes and rest vegetarian in main dishes. Tried chicken biryani and fried rice, fried rice was very bland while biryani was very spicy. Both were mildly warm and dry. For desserts , tried gulab jamun ( good but had lot of color in it) , sheera which was cold . Hygiene was not good. Table was not completely clean, the water jar had stains( and hence we refrained from drinking from it ) .

Price ? 20$ for single person lol plus a mandatory 15% + service charge . This was for a weekend buffet. I truly think the price was not justified for the food I had . Have been to many other buffet places which had been really good and less than 20 bucks . Total of 48$ for two people buffet .

Quality of food is poor with chicken tasted as if it was cooked days before . I usually rate 2 stars only when the quality is way below expectations.

I would recommend to avoid it for a buffet until at the least it is improved as per the price they charge.

Will try other restaurants next...

The Food here is Wonderful and fits the budget… Had a home away from home experience while on a break in Virginia… The simple ambience and laid back decor at "Mehran" is truly a bargain... The spacious sitting arrangements and attentive staff with ready answers to help us choose from a wide variety available on the menu beckon the traveler and the regulars alike... The staff here is friendly and very helpful, the cooking does however take time and it would be advisable to plan ahead... very accommodative staff, who provide good consul... they may however seem under staffed in busy hours... There are juices and refrigerated beverages to go with the food, which may seem a bit on the spicy side… The snacks are many, it would be wise to make your choice early; from the multiples available on the Friday buffet menu and stick to the favorites... The cuisine with kababs and curries is adequate to accommodate the choosy non-vegetarian with multiple avian options, there are options for the guests who are off the meats with wonderful "Daal and Greens" too… however waiting times will vary, the spread on the Friday buffet menu is not awesome but good for the budget pricing... the staff here are willing and compliant with the warm breads and refill requests... The place is easily approachable with ample parking space too… The Friday Lunch Buffet will be a favorite, your visit will usually be planned... however do order ahead with bigger groups and to save on waiting time… Bon...

December 22, 2024 @ 8pm hour - Terrible, terrible portion size. This restaurant is so disappointing and I will never return or recommend to anybody. Shrimp Masala is listed as one of their “chef specialties”, but it was absolute garbage. I got a tiny bowl of what was 95% onions and sauce, with literally four pieces of BABY shrimps in it!!!!! Baby shrimps?????!!!!!!!! For $20, you could not have even used regular sized shrimps?!!!!!. Shame on them. The guy taking our order was acting like he was brain dead.

It seems you have to be Pakistani or know the owner to get good service at this place. I am saying they are very racist against people who are not their own. We were two Latino-looking guys who spoke clear English.

SHAME to the person who decided to skimp me by putting BABY SHRIMP in my dish. I hope you have the worst holiday...
