School was cancelled for a week due to weather. The schoolhouse grill website is horrible, so finding information there pertaining to refunds for school missed due to weather was not possible. I asked the principle of the school what was going to happen regarding refunds for lunches, and he told me to reach out to schoolhouse grill. I called schoolhouse grill and was greeted by a woman that was well versed and ready to respond to any question you asked her. Will there be a refund? She said of the 5 days, Monday and Tuesday would not be. I asked why. Her response was because they have employees they have to pay. I was stunned by her response. So I told her that not issuing a refund for services not rendered is not very typical. Her very snarky response was "Is your school going to give refunds for the days missed?". I told her that was not a valid apples to apples comparison. She then said let's just agree to disagree.
Schoolhouse grill's prices are quite bad to begin with. Keeping money that does not belong to them is quite another. If they're hurting for money due to COVID, I'm sorry. But that is what PPP is for!!! Not to turn a profit by not issuing refunds for services not delivered. Who do I report them to other than writing this review? BBB perhaps? If businesses are starting to take a free-for-all approach, where are we heading?
I've demanded to the principle that they move on from this vendor. I've gotten the word out to other parents about the unprofessionalism of this company. Hopefully this review opens eyes a little more. I had been spending $75 to $80/month on lunches. Not anymore. If word gets around, companies like this can hopefully have their bottom line hurt and get ran out of business. Only then can we as consumers teach bad businesses a lesson. The more parents that stop buying these...
Read moreMy daughter goes to a private school and they do not have a cafeteria at her school. Schoolhouse Grill caters to her school. When she first started, I would always order from here. After a while, my daughter started complaining and saying she no longer likes their food. She said she got a couple frozen pieces of veggies in her food a few times and it just tasted like frozen food that was warmed up. She still does however like their chicken nuggets, strips and their French toast. Also, be careful with the "ordering ahead." I thought I was being smart by packing advanced orders 2 weeks out. Well, if you're child misses school that day, you don't get your money back. I kind of figured that one. But the part that sucked was when everyone knew on a Wednesday that it was going to snow that Friday. The entire county school system shut down. But we still paid for lunch that day 🤔 When I called and asked them about this, I was told they had already made the food so that's why there's no credit given back to the client on such days. The food is about $9 per day. Public school lunch is less...
Read moreThis is a convenient option for busy parents and I think the only option in the area for daycares that don't have cafeterias. I have used it on and off for a few months when I am in a pinch but always begrudgingly because the meals and snacks are not healthy. Today the school found a bug in my sons lunch when they first opened it so I will no longer...
