Not sure why this didnāt post, but this review is from a year ago. So my wife and I were driving back to Florida from Maine w our 4 damn kids and stayed a night in Roanoke. We were hangryashell and were about to stop at a fast food restaurant but then something happened where the turn us was weird and I missed it..whateverā¦Godās Providence. I said to my wife, āI wish I could find a deli or somethingā. Just as I said that a light shined down on Mikeās deli. But just because God shines a light down on a deli doesnāt necessarily mean itās going to be amazing. Anyway, my wife went in. She said the guys were super kind. They inquired about where she was from and complimented her sandwich toppings. Said she must be from up north because she knows how to doctor up a sandwich. Nope. Florida, homie. But thatās all that these gents got wrong. It has been a week since I had that sandwich. I believe it was called the āAll Americanā or something like that. I shouldnāt have used quotes because Iām not sure but Iām not editing. Anyway, they said weād be back after trying them. Iām trying to figure out how to get back up there. It was that good. Top 5 sandwiches Iāve ever had and maybe #1. My wife absolutely loved hers as well. Godās Providence. Thank you, Mikeā¦and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff was friendly for the most part, the wait was a little long but the steak and cheese was not worth the wait. This was my first time there and after asking them what was good the presentation and taste was not impressive or up to par whatsoever. I got the 12" size and forced myself to to eat about 4"'s of it and the rest was chicken food. Which I even felt bad that I gave them the rest. The steak was rubbery and the color was not right, it looked and tasted as if it was taken straight out of hot water seasoned way to much to hide the taste (I imagine), and the wax paper rap the the individual layers of steak come in when still frozen was also still left on the meat. I thought it was a chewy part of the steak but I was wrong. When I started pulling it out of my mouth it felt like a clown trick and more just kept coming. The portion size along with the onions and peppers also not well balanced, lettuce is lettuce and tomatoes are tomatoes. About the only good thing about the sandwich was the bread. If I ever do go back I will get me a plane baguette for lunch. Hopefully your experience will be better...

If I want a sandwich in Roanoke, I have two go to locations, Viet Subs, or Mike's. Viet Subs makes Banh Mi and you could read my review for it elsewhere. Mike's makes traditional American Heroes - 6 or 12 inch. Once you try one, you will not be satisfied with a chain.
First off, Mike's has the best roast beef sub in the area. It comes with onions (optional) and can't be beat. For a long time, it was the only thing I ordered because I enjoyed it so much.
Then one day, they ran out. Once I got past the shock and devastation I ordered an Italian sub. Wow, that was good! It's a unique spin on it with some tangy slaw along with all the Italian meats. Now I have a hard time deciding between my two favorites!
I've gotten a lot of business lunches here and everyone was always been impressed with the food. The only complaint I have is that they're not open on...
