So bad it is funny. Dry, tasteless pizza. Ugly, cheap decor. Unprofessionally managed (note: this is heavily understated, like calling Chris Farley slim). Better to drive 10 minutes to Lombardi's or Church Street Pizza. Or, try Dominos, or chalk, or road kill. The details. After waiting five minutes in an empty restaurant to pay for a carry out order, I was informed the coupon I had just printed from their website was expired (there was no date on it). Fine--I won't take the salad, just give me the pizza. No, they say, take the salad, but just this once will they do me such great a generosity, and in the future I should remember their coupons aren't supposed to be used (rookie mistake). Okay. They disappear for a few minutes. A new person comes to the register Actually, he comes but avoids eye contact, goes, comes back still avoiding eye contact, goes, then finally returns, stares down at his hands for a few moments, then looks up and asks how he may help me. "Perhaps by giving me a pizza," I meekly suggest. So he rings me up for the pizza…and salad. We run through now-familiar linguistic gyrations, though less gracefully this time. This inevitably results in him insisting his good establishment wants to give me the salad per the terms of the coupon, albeit with great moral disappointment in me and utter consternation that I would dare believe the coupon was valid. Then talk of a second salad is introduced. This topic was elucidated with such consummate incomprehension that, in hindsight, I doubt my interpretation that each pizza came with a gratis side salad was anywhere near the truth. Nevertheless, now believing the “coupon” salad was a mere redundancy of an existing gratis salad, I more firmly pressed my case to not have the “coupon” salad, either via coupon or cash. Such a request is known as “changing the order.” It is important to note “changing the order” is strongly looked down upon. It also requires a password, which only the manager has. Pause two minutes. Enter manager. She silently stares me down for moment that drags on too long for good cinematic taste, types in the password, shakes her head, and shirks away. This is the part of the story where I pay and get my pizza (side note: there is no gratis salad, and I’d sooner ask the boy on dough duty for a prostate examine than revisit the issue of salad). As for an underwhelming end, the pizza was very bad. I am not a “foodie” or even in possession of mildly sophisticated dining expectations, and as such lack the adjectives to describe how bad it was. Still, it was very...
Read moreI went to Red Tomato because others have recommended it. When I ordered a pizza about a month ago, I said no black olives but just put more of the other ingredients. They charged me extra for peppers. I took pictures to show there weren't more peppers. Last night we ordered the "Chicago Style Veggie Pizza" and what a huge disappointment it was, 90% dried bread. When I tried it again day, it was dried out and mostly dough giving it another chance. I took pictures and wish I could attach them to this review. When I just tried calling and asked for the manager, then said he was making pizzas and call back in 10 minutes. I called back and asked for the person's name, who hung the phone up on me. :-( Such bad customer service. So I called back and asked for the manager, who the person that answered the phone said he was the owner, and his name is Hamid. Don't waste...
Read moreThis is the third time I am going to this restaurant. The food is simply excellent. I have had the pizza several times and everyone in my family loves the pizza. We got the pasta with chicken and an Italian sub today. It was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an authentic Italian food at a reasonable price that everyone in the family would ask to go back over and over again.
The service was excellent and the staff were friendly. The food arrived on time and as ordered.
The atmosphere is friendly and parking is easy. If you live in McLean or Vienna, this is the place to go to every time you want want to Italian food or want to get take out. We also plan to cater from them. If you live in DC area DMV, it is definitely worth trying this restaurant. You would not be...
