This is the second time I had an issue with Starnut. When the first time happened I decided to turn a blind eye but I will never visit this establishment again. It's a shame because the food is actually delicious. Once we were there with the Board of a local group of moms. We had a Board meeting there. The Cafe space is pretty big which is why we chose this location. However, we were informed by the management that our group is too big and we are not allowed to have a meeting there. I was shocked given that 1-a we would all order food so that was money for the business 2-there was plenty of empty space in the cafe at the time and we were under 10 people and 3-we were the board of a local group with 200 families' membership. You would think any business owner would love to have our patronage and get our good word around. That incident passed. Then today, I was there with my friends and a business partner who is a local real estate agent. My friend had her son with her. We all ordered food and coffee from the establishment but the owner came over and asked us to leave because my friend had brought outside food for her son because the food at StarNut was not what her son would eat. Again, we all ordered food from StarNut--plus the owner doesn't know. Maybe a child has severe allergies or is on a special diet. I was floored at this reaction. My friend tried to explain it to him and he shamed her so badly, she had to rush her two year old to the corner and shove food in his mouth so we could stay for the meeting. Then, the owner has the audacity to say, Your child isn't a baby and proceeds to give him two pieces of chocolate presumably because he felt bad. If we had not all ordered food from the cafe, I would understand but this is unacceptable, bad business, and frankly, inconsiderate and rude....
Read more10/10!!! I was arranging an afternoon tea party to celebrate my birthday and when the previous establishment I looked into was booked for the weekend, I did a spontaneous google search of different places near where I live in Great Falls that would be convenient for celebrating. I had never heard of nor had been to Starnut before my search and after making a visit for a consultation about my plans for my birthday celebration, I really asked myself why had I never discovered this place sooner, especially when it has been in business for about 20 years as I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and how they really cared about tailoring everything to perfection for a special occasion. The afternoon tea turned out to be a success and my guests were so pleased by the quality of everything, from the food to the service to even the decor! I really cannot thank you enough for everything and look forward to coming back quite often, as well as would recommend anyone who is looking to do something special for their birthday :) P.S: the cake that was ordered for celebrating was absolutely delicious and had my Iranian parents finding difficulty to resist the leftovers as soon as I got home! Excellent work and thank you...
Read moreI’ve been to this place once. It’s nice with great coffee and pastries. I saw they were serving lunch items as well and it looked great. Nice inviting interior. Nevertheless it gets only 3 stars (I was even tempted to give it 2 stars), because after that first visit I returned to this place twice and both times they were closed at least 20 minutes if not more before their posted closing time (online and on their doors). Last time I stood at 5:40pm by their locked door that announced 6pm closing time. An employee inside saw me trying to open the door, came to the door to tell me they’re closed for the day. When I pointed at 6pm on their door, he told me it was a slow day so they closed early. When I asked if I could at least get a coffee he said they cleaned the machine already. As someone who doesn’t live close to this place and specifically drove there after initially liking it, I find it disrespectful for customer’s time to not honor their own hours. After experiencing this twice in a row, I assume this is a common practice. I don’t intend to call a place each time to find out if they’re still open or not. Despite me liking everything else about this place, I do not...
