My recent visit to Tarrants West was through the Dining in the Dark experience and it left me with mixed feelings. While aspects of the evening were well-executed and enjoyable, I couldn't help but feel disappointed by the lackluster culinary experience that accompanied it.
Starting off on a positive note, the organization of the event was commendable. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and ready to embark on our sensory adventure. The attentive and fast service provided by the servers added to the overall efficiency of the evening. Furthermore, the energetic host excelled in explaining the entire process, setting the stage for what could have been an extraordinary culinary experience.
Unfortunately, my excitement quickly waned as each course was served. The food, while presented in darkness to enhance the sensory experience, fell short of expectations. It was disheartening to find that the dishes lacked flavor, creativity, and originality. Considering the cost of this experience, I anticipated a more refined and adventurous selection.
Perhaps the most significant letdown was the temperature of the dishes. Cold food not only affected the taste but also detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. It is reasonable to assume that special attention would be given to ensure the food's temperature remained at an optimal level, even in the absence of light.
Moreover, the menu seemed disappointingly basic for the price paid. Given that Dining in the Dark promotes itself as a unique and extraordinary culinary journey, I expected a more innovative and memorable culinary experience. Regrettably, the offerings turned out to be underwhelming, failing to justify the premium price tag.
In conclusion, while the Dining in the Dark experience boasted strong organization, swift service, and an enthusiastic host, the lackluster and underwhelming food offerings left much to be desired. The cold and flavorless food, coupled with a basic menu for the price paid, were significant drawbacks to an otherwise well-executed event. If you are seeking a true culinary adventure, this experience may not meet your...
Read moreHorrific experience: harassment at Terrance West. The hostess woman laughed in our faces when asked if there were any tables available. We then asked what the wait would be and she condescendingly replied that it would be at LEAST an hour and thirty minute wait. She went on to say that they would be able to seat us at the bar. The rest of our party came in a few minutes later and we went back up to the hostess and asked to go to be seated at the bar, as she had offered 5 minutes prior. She then scoffs, and asks if we are 21. Our party is confused and my mother responds that she is 21. The hostess looks us all up and down, then in asks “well are you ALL 21?” in tone that made it sound like she was accusing my party, a mother and her four children coming in for Mother’s Day, of trying to commit a crime. We responded no and she said we could wait in the corner until a table opened. We eventually got seated by someone else at the row of tables by the bar. Our first server was the highlight of the night, kind and courteous. Our food was brought out by a different waiter who was most obviously drunk. He stumbled out and split ice cream on my sister, forgot half our order, and did not give us utensils. When giving us our check, he v made a very rude comment to my little brother (8th grade) who was wearing a deep run lacrosse sweatshirt: “Godwin is going to beat you guy’s butts on Thursday hahaha that’s what’s up”, while slurring his words and stumbling. Our whole party sat there awkwardly without response while he stared at us. After uncomfortably standing by our table after unnecessarily making a very rude comment to a child, he walks away and we left. Will never be going back...
Read moreI love, love, love this place. There are tons of new spots in Short Pump but we keep coming back to this local fixture because of the great food, wonderful service and great friendly atmosphere. We always go early because this place gets packed. The vibe is old school tavern. Staff are very friendly and helpful, they work as a team so if you have a quick need, you can flag down any server and they will gladly help out. Managers walk around and check on you and jump in to help clear tables and assist diners to keep things running smoothly. Food comes out hot and fast. There are always great specials and happy hour goes until 7 every day. I can’t tell you which dish I like the best because I’ve never had anything there that wasn’t good, except for desserts… I have yet to find one I love but I would definitely NOT recommend the berry cobbler. It is super sweet and runny with very little berries. The crust was okay with ice cream but for the price, it was horrible. Otherwise, the food is always well seasoned, cooked to perfection, and there’s a good amount because they don’t skimp on portion sizes. Main entree dishes are a little pricy but well worth it. Must have appetizers are the chicken wings, calamari, Brussels sprouts, fish tacos and homemade chips. From there, we’ve literally probably tried 1/2 the menu and always enjoyed our food. I highly recommend brunch too. With hot cinnamon buns while you wait, it’s sure to please! In addition to bar and main dining room seating, there are 3 separate areas for private gatherings and I’ve seen these set up buffet style or as off menu service. I would definitely recommend this place for high quality food in a...
